Which type of warrior?

Obviously it is time for some Dwarfing and Elfing around. And I want to play a Warrior.
I have played through every Origin up to meeting King Cailan at this point. I want to play a City Elf Warrior, a murderlicious little jerk who eventually learns to love or perhaps just pretends to love.
Anyway, I'm trying to decide which flavor of warrior to go with. Sword and Shield is out... that doesn't seem to fit him.
I've done DW on a rogue (twice), how different is it with a warrior, taking the different specializations into account? I'm not opposed to it since it is fun, but if it's essentially the same experience, I'll be more likely to choose otherwise.
I'm a bit interested in 2H, but I'm going to limit myself to swords... not a fan of the looks of mauls/hammers.
And how is archery on a Warrior?

The Best 2 handed weapon I have come across so far is the Nug Crusher, In the ostagar DLC, Personally with 2handers I perfer more armor penetration over crit chance especially once u get the Destroyer skill, I would suggest Rally and Beserk and just forget about Haste.
Should also mention that I'm not interested in playing a tank. I'm not concerned with actual tip-top dps, but I would like to feel like my elf is really good at killing things.

I'm having a good time with a Two-Handed tank build. I know you said you don't want to tank, but it's not quite the same as a traditional damage soaker. Instead of being there to take every blow, it concentrates on keeping enemies knocked down, stunned, feared, and whatever else you can come up with. While the early game is a little rough, it gets very fun later on. And with this setup you don't have to worry about having one character do nothing but taunt and auto-attack (Alistair syndrome) so they can focus on doing actual damage, effectively increasing group DPS output. Get this character Starfang early on(or better yet, the Witch Hunt axe if you have it) and he'll be insanely versatile for the entire game. Once you have Spirit Warrior from Awakening, he's literally unstoppable.
I actually played a DW Warrior for all of Origins, and the amount DPS was incredible. I ended up finishing with 46% of my party's damage on Hard difficulty, and this is despite having Morrigan cheese out enemies with Mana Clash and Storm of the Century in certain areas. Good AoE and CC make this guy cut through enemies like butter. So if you want to kill things and look badass doing it, I'd recommend a Templar/Reaver DW Warrior. But consider the 2H tank too.

Have you played a DW Rogue? I'm curious as to how they stack up to each other.

Unrelated to the topic, it seems to be impossible to make a male elf that doesn't have a chin that looks like some kind of gouging weapon when viewed at that 7:00 angle that 75% of the conversation scenes put your character in. Kind of annoying.
There is an adj for chin depth and the like, if you wish to give it a try.

I've tried it. At least for the presets I prefer, as soon as I adjust the chin depth a notch above concave, bammo, gouging time. If Bioware had really wanted to present a new wrinkle on elves, they shoulda given them some beards! Or at least goatees.
Maybe I'll go dwarf instead. Both origins are great, as I recall.

Do not forget the females. The City Elf origin is much more intense as a bride to be; very Kill Bill!
Good point. I'll play with the Creator some more.
How do the 2H animations play out on a dwarf? Better, worse, the same?

Warrior Archers ARE doable, and can get decent damage. But they are only really truly effective in Awakening, when you can get Spirit Warrior. Spirit Warrior Archers, with little Hex help from mages, can do incredible amounts of damage.
City Elf female 2H warrior is a blast. It's so fun seeing this tiny little elven female smacking darkspawn around with a 2-hander, especially a maul. It's even better when using Medium armor, because that really keeps the body shape well.

I have not, but my brother has and he's told me about it. As a Warrior, you don't get backstabs like a Rogue; this is good and bad. The good part is that you don't have to worry about positioning at all, just line 'em up and knock 'em down. The bad part is that you don't gain any additional bonuses for flanking opponents.
Instead of relying on that kind of finesse and damage avoidance, a DW Warrior gets by on pure brutality. Equip some heavy or massive armor(such as Wade's Superior w/ Evon's or Knight Commander's Plate), grab a couple of high damage weapons and go to town.
It's not a whole lot different than playing a Rogue, and I like the Warrior specializations better too. Heavy Plate looks much better than leather, and with a sword and dagger on your back it looks pretty badass.

But DW Warriors don't have Flicker
But still, tiny elven female with huge-ass maul just is lulz-worthy, and very, very awesome.

DW Rogues rely almost entirely on backstabs. DW Warriors rely more on talents.

And I do like the change from 'Men RIding to the Rescue' to 'Distressed Damsel MURDERING EVERYONE'.
I've never made it past the Origin with an Elf. Is there anything super special or hugely different that happens upon return to the alienage? Or is it just a few lines?

This is how I feel. Early on it feels weak and gets killed pretty easy, but once you get 2H sweep and the like it becomes much much easier.

In Awakening you have one or two more AoE knockdowns and the character is pretty much untouchable.

I'm curious though, now that I have Starfang, are there any two handed blades that outperform it? Not mauls, but swords or axes.
