Ah, a new question arises. Who wrote LotSB?

Who wrote LotSB? I haven't seen the credits for it yet so I'm in the dark about this.

I believe Patrick Weekes headed the writing team for LotSB. He and his team deserve a lot of praise. They did a fantastic job with Liara and made Shep more human.

Do we need new banners? "I support Patrick & Drew for ME3 (no offense Mac)"

It would be nice if you had a source for this information.

Possibly, although Drew no longer writes for Mass Effect, he works on TOR in Texas. Patrick definitely needs more recognition for the sterling job he's done.

Oh and Mida, the end credits tell you all you need to know.

I think it would be awesome to find out Mac did write for LotSB, because that would mean we don't have to keep being mean about him. I mean, he's clearly a good writer. I think we take some of our frustrations out on him unjustly. There are lots of reasons why some of us judge the ME2 story to be below par.

The end credits? You mean at the end of the vanilla game?

After LotSB has been installed, yes. The end credits are modified to reflect installed DLC.

LOL, never thought they'd actually bother to modify the credits. Thanks. *high five*

LotSB had a decent story to it although maybe easier to feel the emotion if you had read Mass Effect:Redemption to understand what drives Liara and why she feels so strongly about taking down the Shadow Broker.

ME 2 itself while it had it's writing problems (so did the first one) I didn't think it was that bad. A lot of the issues most people have with it seem to be "My favourite character only got a bit part so now i'm mad!" Which is probably why the Liara fans are all happy now and the Kaiden/Ashley fans are calling out for a DLC so they have another chance to bed their favourite character. I can imagine the ****fit if they made that DLC and it had no romance option. I also felt the way the romance was written in LotSB made no sense if you had a new Li in ME 2 it's just like "Oh them? Yeah whatever lets go to bed i want you again now" so the writing in LotSB is far from perfect.

I'm sure we have more of this to come when ME 3 comes out unless they bring back the entire ME 2 squad and give prominant roles to ME 1 characters then there shall be mass rage (pun not intended) on these forums.

...I really don't think Moondoggie did sum it up. If you look at the Ashley / Kaidan DLC request thread, the vast majority of people want any such DLC to include a *step* in reconciliation, maybe but not necessarily including a kiss for those in a romantic relationship. I can't recall seeing anyone request that things end up in bed. (I mean, possibly some people have and I just haven't seen it.)

What has made people receive LotSB so enthusiastically (apart from pretty locations and great combat) is the depth of the writing. I honestly don't think that those who want more DLC like LotSB want things to become more shallow. Ash and Kai have a much wider chasm lying between themselves and Shep than Liara did, and I think the writing should recognise that.

I always said that they can keep their new gameplay system for all I care, as long as the writing improves. And that it did in this DLC. But even the combat was a step in the right direction too. More challenging, more diverse, even a little less linear.

The great part of LotSB was that Liara wasn't willing to jump to your bed asap. She had doubts, and they were very obvious. The dialogur in Shepard's cabin was really well thought out and had better writing that most of ME2. So, no, Moondoggie, Liara fans were not happy just about 'bedding' her.

As Kaidan and Ashley fans wouldn't be happy if their reconciliation ended up being just sex scene. It won't cut it at all, after all thet happened i don't see them coming to terms easily. If anything. LotSB was a good sign the devs are not gjust going to take an easy way out of this.

Walters did do a good job with Aria (he wrote her in ME2).  I think he's just good with certain types of characters, but not others.

Overlord and LOTSB are a large part of the reason I believe ME3 has the potential to kill me with its epicness.

I did enjoy ME2, but LotSB is the best thing in the game by a long way. The writing, balance between story and gameplay, and the way the characters of Shepard and Liara are handled is on a totally different level to anything else seen in ME2. It has made me see that the balance between story and action in the rest of ME2 is too heavily tilted toward the action side. LotSB was the perfect balance and played to what makes Mass Effect great - story and the characters. It felt like playing a ME1 story section with ME2's game engine. LotSB is the strongest part of the whole of ME2 - hopefully the Bioware guys know this too and apply that thinking for ME3.

Gah! Need insulin!

I loved Lair too, but my favorite part wasn't Liara - it was all the tidbits that gave additional insight into the existing Normandy crew and the state of the galaxy as a whole.

That, and the boss battles anyway.
