I've already thanked Patrick Weekes on Twitter, to which he kindly responded, but I'd like to thank both him and BioWare yet again! Seriously, this DLC was fantastic. The handling of Liara and her romance was perfection.

To OP: I view the whole (some say mediocre) plot of ME2 based around your squad is to make as many choices that will affect as many types of groups/areas in ME3 (i.e. Mordin's loyalty mission affects krogans and salarians; Garrus loyalty helps C-Sec in a way). But that is just a theory.

Even though I understand your disappointment in ME2, are there actually that many games that even measure up to it anyway? Even if ME3 doesn't meet our individual expectations, it's still better than most.

Let's not reopen that debate. This is a happy, huggy thread!

I agree that lair of the shadowbroker is absolutly fantastic however it doesn't fix everything. I'm not quite willing to forgive Bioware for ME2 until they do a similar fix for Kaidan and Ashley (Well truth to be told I would settle for Kaidan but that would be hightly unfair).

I'm still not sure though if I believe Bioware can deliver a satisfying end to the Reapers in just one game but I'm willing to give them a chance at least. Especially if the rest of the DLC before ME3 doesn't disepoint and keep the same quality of LoTSB. In the end though I think I still believe ME2 is a rather flawed game, one DLC doesn't fix everything but it sure is a good start. :)

Awsome dlc, but I am still bitter about how Ash and Kaidan got treated in ME2, but LotSB has given me hope that will be fixed.

It's too bad only Mass Effect 2 gets good DLC while Dragon Age suffers.

All kidding aside, about group hugs and such, it's quite clear that LotSB made a great many people feel a lot less betrayed or left behind.

OP's point was very well stated, but the best evidence of the satisfaction of the DLC was the near-complete lack of hate threads about LotSB. That's quite a complement when you think about it.

The content was designed for players who'd completed the suicide mission. After all, ME2 came out in January. However, having just played LotSB relatively early in another playthrough, I have to say that the integration into the game's narrative earlier is very well done. In fact, I think I prefer it that way.

I like it best that way too. Think it's works best after Horizon personally. ^^

Well you can't access it before Horizon, since you need to talk to Liara on Illium. ;)

What else were the players supposed to think than "oh well, she obviously didn't matter enough"? A few sentences more, and the impression would have been very different.

They could have thought anything other than jumping to the worst possible conclusion.  Something I see a good many members of this forum population doing on a regular basis.

Examples:

Mass Effect 2 is on the PS3 = All Mass Effect one choices are now meaningless

Ashley was mean to me on Horizon and had only one small appearance in the second game = Bioware doesn't care about me and my choices as a player.  They're forcing a "canon" on all of us.

Heat clips for guns?!  What is this! = Bioware sold out to EA and is preparing us for Mass Effect 3:  Mass Harder the awesome first person on the rails shooter coming about Fall 2012.

Biotics are weak in the game = Bioware is supplying arms to insurgents in the middle east

Biotics are too strong in the game = The devil is actually programming this game.

No more loot gathering!  But I loved collecting 100 guns only 3 of which I'll actually use and equip on my player = Come on guys!  Join me in the bomb shelter.  I'm never buying a Bioware product again.  They got my sister pregnant and now they won't support the baby.  My mom never loved me.  My dad isn't really my dad.  What does this even mean.  WAAA.

ahem.... etc...

I agree with this. While most of the core ME1 features I loved are gone, the Liara DLC is by far the best storytelling piece in this entire game. I can forgo some features if ME3 has amazing storytelling like this.

Arriving at Liara's apartment was one of the most cinematic experiences in ME and it gave me chills.

And by the way, this DLC was the only reason I still had any interest in the game, and now I even bought some other DLCs because of it.)

Same here. I didn't doubt that they would eventually release DLC focusing on Liara, but the quality of the DLC made me go back and get the other DLC as well. LOSTB and Overlord stand out to me as DLC where the developers had the time to create something that actually improved on the story and mechanics of the original game. Even though much of the content apparently already existed during the release of the original game, the end result was very polished and it really shows just what the development team is capable of creating if they're given the time. I just hope they get all the time they need to make ME3 just as awesome.

Yes, I went to Illirium very soon after Horizon and that works well. I didn't go immediately, however. I did complete a couple of minor missions first. I'd explain why, but this is a non-spoilers forum.

I agree with this. I also miss some of the ME1 features, but Liara DLC is the best that has come out from ME2. And the taxi race was amazing!.

To raise some objections on the LotSB DLC (I know I'm not gonna be popular :P) they will be the investigation/search about Liara's localization as well as the fire extinguisher because, imo, they were to easy and simple to find and the mask breathing Liara wears.

PD: Excuse my english, is not my first language.

I've been critical of BW in the past too, but if LotSB is any indication of how ME3 will proceed, I'll preorder the CE.  Easily the best story in the game, w/ some of the best dialog.  Best part, (aside from Vanguard on Vanguard battle, Liara back in the cabin, and the car chase), my Shep wasn't a brick the whole time:o

Yes, I remember how we used to make fun of Shepard's brick-ness in the Liara thread.

Shepard:

Now Shepard cannot be summed up with one emoticon.

If ME3 holds the same quality as LotSB it will be the best game ever. I agree with everyone saying it was good to see Shepard get her/his emotions back. Suddenly Shepard became a human being again.

This

I'm another ME 2 "hater" who found LOTSB to be fantastic.  The single worst thing I can say about it is that it's DLC and not part of Mass Effect 2 proper.

It doesn't fix all, or even most, of what I dislike about ME 2 ::coughHorizoncough::  But it's a start, and it gives me hope both for future DLCs and ME 3.

Same here! Despite the DLC falling a tad short of my expectations it is hardly to blame simply because it attempted to develop something erstwhile out of the horrible narrative precedent set by the base game (relative to which it is indeed "fantastic"), but IMO is still nothing to get overly excited about.
