I use the dvorak layout, but NWN2 refuses to acknowledge the layout.  I could rearrange the in game layout, but that's a pain and I have since long forgotten the qwerty layout.  Looking through the ini files I can't find any option to set a keyboard layout.  It was working fine in Linux, but there were too many graphical glitches for me.

I notice that when I click the icon to load it up, the language bar dissappears?

I'm using Win7.

Is there anyway to force NWN2 to acknowledge my keyboard layout?

OK, this is getting weird.  If I bring down the console, it's dvorak but moving my character is qwerty...

Never heard this one before. I think you're our official Dvorak Keyboard layout pioneer as of now. So while I wish I could answer your question, I think you're pretty much in untested and unknown territory on the whole. I wish you luck and godspeed, sirrah.

Hey! Anyone else out there got a Dvorak keyboard and know how to answer this? Calling all non-Qwerty users!

best regards,

The thing that gets me is that I've been playing this game on and off since it came out and I've never had this issue before...

Perhaps it's a Win7 compatibility issue with a Dvorak layout not being accounted for in-game?

I do get this direct x error when install the OC:

I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Plus, I can't open the toolset unless I install the DX that's on the OC's disc. I get this "neverwinter nights 2 toolset has stopped working" message. I sometimes get a similar message when opening the game, and I just have to keep opening it again and again until it finally runs and then it's OK except my keyboard issue.

I have no idea whether or not those issues have anything to do with my keyboard problem or not. I'm just throwing them out there in case it rings a bell in someones head.  The issue could have something to do with directinput or whatever the dx input thingy is called.

I've tried a few other games and it's the same thing. The gameplay is qwerty and the console is dvorak. So, it's not NWN2 specific. I don't think it has to do with compatibility as I've tried the compatibility options and I've never had this problem before. The only thing I can think of is reinstalling windows, but reinstalling for this one trivial issue is just stupid.

I'm convinced it's a problem with direct x. I don't know if there's some sort of dx options somewhere that I've never heard of. dxdiag looks like everything's in order.

I ran into the same kinds of things twenty years ago with my Northgate Dvorak keyboard, and finally gave up on it.

I think what happened was that in Linux, running this game with wine, the game recognized the dvorak layout. And that's why I'm confused.

Does anyone think it possible to make a dvorak mod? Or is that stuff all hardcoded?
