Hi everyone,
I am playing BGII chapter 7 - at the Elven city fighting Balors etc. Some of my party members are leveling up real quckly!!! Main character (Ranger), Minsc, Valygar, Imoen and Aerie. At such high levels, level up gives me the chance to choose an ability for these characters. While abilities of Rangers and Valygar appear instantly when I press the ability icon (the star at the right side), no such thing happens with Mages (Imoen and Aerie). Imoen only shows the 'set trap' ability while Aerie's ability button is gray (inactive). Does anyone knows what is going on?
Thanks for reading

Mage and cleric HLAs are all spells, or extra spell slots.
Please tell me you know about spells. If you've got to the elven city without casting a single spell, I'm gonna cry

Spells? What are spells? I thought clerics are only used to increase the morale of the group.
Now I am only kidding!!!.
Thank for the reply - I will check my mage and cleric spellbooks.

Hint: They are all level 7 (cleric or druid spells) or level 9 (mage) (actually, the mage spells are level 10, but you cast them with your level 9 spell slots).

Oh yeah, I ran into this problem also. It took me awhile to realize that HLA like "Summon Deva" are not accessed from the special abilities menu, but are instead spells that must be memorized before it can be used.
It works a little differently for mages and clerics than everyone else
