Re: Loading screens and mission complete notices

I personally never thought the elevators were that big of a deal... something was usually going on in them and it kept us in game.

They ought to bring em back for Mass Effect 3. It could be part of the ad campaign!

LOL! YES PREEZE!

Honestly though, I'm with ya on the elevators. I think that now that Bioware's deprived the fans of almost ALL squadmate interaction, everyone's kinda begging for the ME1 elevators to return.

Mine is that my infiltrator can suddenly develop biotic powers. Yeah, I know that they are available due to unlocking them or whatever, but since biotics in humans are basically a mutation (I'm obviously really over-simplifying here) and TIM wanted Shepard built as she was, she should not have access to these abilities if she was not a biotic to begin with. Just their availability annoys the hell out of me.

And seriously - during the Thane romance - the "I want you" line. I know it's not what she says, but when I saw it as a choice I wanted to slap someone.

Just stupid, annoying things. Don't really impact anything :P

Ug, the elevators, If there was a way to make them quiker sure. Or have something inside them, the small discussions, while fun, were short and especially if you took the same two all the time. Mirrors edge had the same elevator loading level with stuff to read but they were quicker. I would go with it if it had a little loading bubble and allowed you to skip them when it was done loading. But the screens are purdy

I'm tired of squadmates not speaking up when they should.

Liara: Did Cerberus tell you how they got your body?
Miranda stands there and says nothing.

You hear a recording on an N7 mission of a merc mentioning he'll go to Omega to kill "some idiot vigilante".
Garrus says nothing.

Parasini/Shiala hit on you.
Your LI stands there and says nothing.

The yahg addresses your squadmate.
They stand there and say nothing.

Wrex doesn't acknowledge Garrus or Tali.
Liara doesn't acknowledge Garrus or Tali.

I want my squadmates to speak up more. Speak up! I don't want the only dialogue you have to be for your loyalty mission.

That's just pure gameplay mechanics/player convenience.  It's not meant to be taken literally.  Shep always was a biotic if you change to a biotic class, and likewise Shep always looked like that if you made a new face.  That's why it's never, ever mentioned and it's why everyone who knew you still knows you on sight.  As far as bonus powers go, consistency or inconsistency with your class is your prerogative.  If you don't care that it makes no sense for your Soldier to have Reave, then go for it. Take Reave.  If you do care, the solution is simple: don't do that.

Because it ****s all over the laws of physics.

Right, but... it's a plot device.  Always is.  Without it we're limited to our solar system and thus the stories are limited.  Don't get me wrong, I love realistic science fiction including but not limited to 2001: A Space Odyssey.  But faster-than-light, no matter how they choose to explain it, is always going to be a conceit of the genre.

They should just use wormholes. Those are theoretically possible and they don't violate physics. They're just short cuts across the universe.

Yes but, theoretically, creating a wormhole requires liberating an amount of energy equivalent to the mass of Jupiter.  In either case it is supremely unrealistic.  The answer is to simply assume that in the future we have a much better understanding of physics such that we can circumvent such issues.

After all -- even today, most physicists understand that Relativity is incorrect because it is completely incompatible with quantum mechanics.  It is therefore entirely possible (even probable) that neither General Relativity nor Quantum Mechanics is correct, and that we will find a deeper theory that encompasses them both.  Who knows what such an understanding would allow us to do.

Bingo --- even Morrigan had some comments if you decided to make that one woman kiss you for saving her son lol --- and vice versa if you messed with Morrigan in front of your other companions.

Not in the future I guess --- What Shepard does, Shepard gets!

I agree completely. Bioware is undoubtedly much better with conversations than, say, Bethesda, however, I would really like there to be more input from the squad mates I take. I know that requires a lot more writing and recording, but I'd happily wait the extra time needed to add that extra layer to the already dynamic conversations.

Yeah, and its not like they don't do it very infrequently - like the "that order is suicide don't follow it" during Samara's recruitment - or planned to do it given the Unused Audio.  There just really ought to be more of it.

I'd take more banter over extra squadmates myself.

One big issue and one nitpick:

I think the interrupts should be handled differently... I should be given a choice of a paragon or renegade interrupt instead of just one. There are even one or two times in ME2 where if you wait for the paragon interrupt option to end it gives you a renegade option (and vice versa).

Also the weird noise when you activate an interrupt, and the fact that everyone stops mid-sentence and freezes, is quite stupid.

How would you do interrupts otherwise?  If they didn't sort of slow down and wait for the player we'd miss all of em wouldn't we?

Just doesn't flow well or seem natural. I don't have much of a solution...

No, you misunderstand me.  I am not talking about changing my class in the beginning of the game.  I am talking about Advanced Training, unlocked through research.  As an infiltrator, I have reave or slam(or whatever it is called) available when i get Advanced Training. Since i am still an infiltrator, they should not be available at all. I am not a biotic.

It's been a while since I last played ME1, but didn't Kaidan make the 'Shep has an L3 implant' reference regardless of what class you chose?

I included the class change thing too because I wasn't sure what you meant by "suddenly develop".  I figured it was better to cover both.

Shepard's limp bugs me too. It doesn't even look like a limp, it looks like a screwed up walking animation. I want the limp gone. I mean Shepard can jog and sprint just fine, but walks with a limp?

What I found amusing is that anytime someone is all banged up and hurt, they get Joker's animation rig.  Feron and Wilson both walk exactly like him.  Same with that idiot merc you freak out on Korlus.

I always wanted a dialog option to say "Hey, I know Cerberus is a bunch of terrorists, but they are the only ones willing to help me with the Reapers! Get off my back!" when someone starts giving you grief for working for Cerberus.

Also it's way too easy to make really ugly characters with the character generator.

Well that makes sense to me. Shepard's limp doesn't. S/he's been rebuilt from the ground up, brand new. I mean if you had any scars, they're gone. Yet you have this limp that never goes away. Bugs me.

I'd amend it to say it's very easy to make unintentionally ugly characters with the character creator. If you're gonna use it to criticize the creator.

Otherwise they might think you're positively referencing Ugly Shepard, heh.
