Just run directly to the shuttle. They are easy to dodge. Also... stasis is a husk instant kill. Stasis makes the collector ship really easy.

A small tip, any sort of biotic effect will destroy a husk after its armour is stripped regardless of health. So short recharge skills like throw, pull, charge are pretty good.

I play as a Vanguard. The best way I found to deal with Husks was SMG (or Assault Rifle if you take that training) to strip their armor as you back away from them, charge once the armor is stripped to kill one outright, use the slowdown time after the charge to put space between you and the remaining Husks.

I had the most fun on the Derelict Reaper getting the IFF just doing that to Husks the whole way.

Slam. Strip their armor, then use Slam. When a Husk leaves the ground, it dies, and Slam has a very short cooldown (even less with the proper upgrades), so you can literally sit there and spam it every 3 seconds. Consider using the Carnifex or the Phalanx with Inferno Ammo to strip a Husk's armor in a single shot, and save your ammo as well. I actually recommend the Phalanx for it's larger ammo supply.

Note that all of this assumes a Level 1 Slam. Also, with the Biotic Cooldown upgrade, you're looking at about 2.4 seconds of recharge time. So you can clear Husks pretty quickly.

Agreed.  Shepard's Slam is so much faster than Miranda's.  You can still use Miranda's in a pinch, but she can't hope to compete with Shepard's Slam-Spam.

And your squadmates can cover your lack of area-effect by bringing Pull Field, Throw Field, Concussive Blast, or similar powers.
