Bioware makes Pies (DA2 gaming trends)

So what does DA2 and Pies have to do with Bioware?  Before I get started keep in mind this is meant in general good humor as I am well aware that everyone has different tastes in Pies and everyone has a favorite flavor :-)  This was just a conversation I had with a fellow real-life gamer that went a bit off-track ...

BIOWARE PIE SHOP:
Well Bioware started off with making good ole traditional Apple Pies, the home made  way, with love and care. They were exceptional because of this. Over time, however, they decided to add some other flavors, like Cheery and  Blueberry. I don't like cheery much, but blueberry I don't mind now and then - just for a change of pace.

They also wanted to keep that homemade flavor so they focused on quality as well as variety. Eventually, however, costs went  up, and they branched out more. They could no longer afford to do things completely homemade and hired more cooks to increase production, but still kept the quality up by using the best organic ingredients.  They also tried a few other flavors and overall their pies remained consistently good.

But costs continued to go up and gamers wanted twists on original flavors, or wanted to adjust the recipes. Bioware finally decided they needed to go into full time mass production. Joining with EA they gave up the home made quality. Now their factory made pies are still tasty and satisfying ... but not quite the same as the originals.

They also found people sometimes just wanted a little pie, so they made mini-pies, that ranged in quality from stale, chemical tasting twinkie-pies to rich buttery croissant pies. But considering what a mixed bag buying one of these mini-pies turned out to be I try avoid them unless the food critics give them a good rating.

So now we reach the current status of their Pie Industry. They finally shut down their homemade and organic pies due to costs and lack of apparent demand.  The masses had spoken and they wanted Cherry and Blueberry, with extra butter and sugar crystals on top - even if those these things tended to increase the costs of making the pies. So they  began a shift to a completely mass produced pie, trying to find shortcuts in other ingrediants and cooking time to help cover the added costs.  They added more sugar and fat while using cheaper, bleached flour and artifically flavored fruit filling.  This makes the pies very appealing and tasty at the cost of a lot of empty calories and complexity of flavor.

Anyhow I still like store made pies okay - they are good for a diversion, a treat, but they do not satisfy or taste as good as the traditional home made apple pie they use to make.  Plus you can still find some close-to-homemade pies, made with organic and fairly fresh ingrediants ... so their is plenty of  hope they will try to incorporate good ingredients in their future pies and continue to make quality pies ... even if they decide they can no longer make pies in flavors that only a few folks like.

So, avoiding the cherry, I may just have to be satisfied with a quality blueberry or strawberry pie, even if I secretly continue to crave my traditional old fashioned apple pie.

Because, when all is said and done, the only reason I would not eat any of their pie is if the quality and flavors both go stale ... and so far that is not the case. Lets hope Bioware will always produce delicious pie  no matter the flavor :-)

So, as we can tell by the formatting, you copy pasted this from elsehwre.

Have a source?

Just fixed it - I had posted in my gay warden group - but it is all me :)  (EDIT: Which will teach me to copy and paste from the screen itself versus the edit text box)

This would have been a better analogy if it had been cake.

Not verbatim, but I posted pretty much the same thing two months ago.

Yeah, if you copy & paste something long that you've written in, the message editor here automatically enters line returns/paragraph returns at the end of each line - chops up your text horriby so you have to remove it line by line (bleah!).

EDIT: Yes, I like
BIoWare's pies too. As for cake being used in the analogy instead...I would approve if it involved chocolate cake. I bet Sten would go for a cookie-related analogy though (he does like his cake though).

Yea I totally screwed that up.

Ah well I figured I would get flamed for it ... even if not how I expected.  I was just having some fun and had rather enjoyed working out the analogy.  I saw someone said they did something similar two months ago ... but I was hardly going to search through the forums for pie references (to many!).  I did read that thread though and I would hardly say it was the same thing even if the theme was related.

... does remind me, however, why I tend to not post around here and stick to my own group :P

For guys and certain women:
A female baked into a pie with cream and strawberries > all.

Wouldn't worry about it at all! *gives you a cookie* It was entertaining, and even if it did get chopped up, at least it was still readable. I've formatted manuscripts that looked worse - haha (you wouldn't believe how illiterate some authors are when it comes to using a word processor).

So you are saying that Bioware should still be making Mech games

The problem is that Bioware already sold us an apple pie, and a pumpkin pie, and a cherry pie, that can be re-eaten an infinite number of times.

So if they made more apple pie, what would be the point? They have to sell new pies.

I just want a metal-flavored pie.  That can blow **** up since no one makes those kind of pies anymore.  Other than From Software.  But I don't like the taste of their pies unless their pies are unnaturally bad for your health, then I find them interesting.  But those pies are rarely metal-flavored and blow **** up pies.

Oh I know ... people like new things.  I was just lamenting a little :-)

Haven't you ever gone to a regular coffee shop, or bakery , or restaurant, and sometimes you want something new .. but sometimes you just want your regular favorite?  Of course you may also try something new (like DA2) and may find it is your NEW favorite.  But my point is that people also like their "comfort" pie at times.

I use to have cheesecake every brithday and then one time I had the most awesome blueberry bread-pudding and that is now my new favorite.  Course that doesn't mean I want to give up cheesecake either :)  It would be nice to still have both.
