I'm trying to make a full stealth infiltrator in a sort of RP sense.

My build is

Heavy Disrupter Ammo
Lvl 1 Cryo Ammo
Enhanced Cloak
Heavy Incinerate
Agent (probably switching to Assassin)
Improved Flash Grenade

I use the
M-96 Mattock Heavy Rifle when it hits the fan
M-92 Mantis Sniper Rifle for long-range stealth shots
M-12 Locust Submachine Gun for mid-range stealth kills
M-3 Predator Heavy Pistol for extreme close range shots
Arc Projector Heavy Weapon for Bosses

I wear the
Kuwashii Visor
Shield Harness
N7 Shoulder Guards
Off-Hand Ammo PAck
Stimulator Conduits

My squad is
Thane
Heavy Warp
Lvl 3 Throw
Drell Marksman
Lvl 2 Shredder Ammo

Kasumi
Deadly Shadow Strike
Master Saboteur
Improved Flashbang

Playing on Veteran
Going for a sort of stealth spec ops type feel for this class.

Opinions?

For veteran that's all pretty good, and the load out suits the theme very well. I'd look into squad cryo ammo to get the most from your SMG and stealth loadout, and perhaps the collector beam rifle for a heavy weapon rather than the arc projector if bosses are your only consideration.

If I go for squad cryo ammo, what should I drop? Maybe Incinerate down to Lvl 1 because I only use it to stop health regen anyways?

Not sure about the flashbang. It's great, but I'd choose either an ammo power or something with an extremely short cooldown for a stealth infiltrator, simply to make sure you have tactical cloak available to you for as long as possible. I'm a great fan of Neural Shock with its extremely short cooldown and ability to pin the target for several seconds. Get neural shockwave, you can do it for multiple targets.

On Veteran, where you aren't up against as many defenses as the harder difficulties, for an ammo power, I'd actually choose shredder ammo. People will scoff, but if you're up against a lot of enemies where health is the only bar that matters, why not shredder ammo?

Well, suppose armor piercing ammo would give you a much needed edge against Praetorians and Scions...

I love Incinerate too much to ever sacrifice it. When I go with squad cryo ammo, I sacrifice disruptor ammo. Cryo will freeze a mech just as well. For enemies with shields, my bonus power has usually been Energy Drain, but you'll be surprised what Incinerate can still do on them. Mix with a squadmate on Overload.

Depends on what you pick for the bonus power whether I'd suggest a Level 3 Incinerate so you can have a Level 4 bonus power. Should be able to do Level 2 Disruptor Ammo and Level 4 Squad Cryo Ammo then.

I've liked the flashbang so far (1 mission away from horizon) and it's saved my life when I can stun the ten or so enemys camping. And even going for stealth, flashbang just helps me storm enemies when I can't effectively get all of them in one go. My disrupter ammo is good enough for me just really using it for the synthetic and weapon overload.

Since your cloak stops health and shield regen in its tracks, you might want to think about something that will give you an OMG button when you accidentally or purposely cloak with only a sliver of red left.

Something like Reave, ED, Barrier, or GSB.

I'd drop only necessary points in Dissruptor as you can get squad from Zaeed. Try for squad ammo so that your mates actually do some of the hard work allowing you to be a bit more sneaky.

I'd also choose Assassination cloak for the extra kick to the weapon damage. If you can't get there in 6 seconds, it may not be the best place choice.

Finally, I tend to go with the Assassin operative as that provides extra damage and +power. I want every shot I take to pack all the punch it possibly can. Once i'm out of cloak, I may not get another chance.

Heavy Dis. Ammo - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
Suad Cryo - lvl 4 -- 10 pts.
Assassination Cloak - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
Inceneration blast (crowd control) - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
ai hack - lvl 0
Assassin - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
Reave, ED, Barrier, or GSB - lvl 1 -- 1pts (or whatever gives you some time to regen health/sheilds)

If you're not too conerned about having an OMG button, Then:

Heavy Dis. Ammo - lvl 2 -- 3 pts
Suad Cryo - lvl 4 -- 10 pts.
Assassination Cloak - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
Incenerate - lvl 3 -- 6 pts
ai hack - lvl 1 -- 1pt
Assassin - lvl 4 -- 10 pts
Heavy Warp Ammo - lvl 4 -- 10pts (since it affects bariers, armor and health)
*if you prefer to cast then drop this to lvl 3 and up incenrate back to lvl 4

Throwing a grenade of intense light and noise and setting people on fire seems very unstealthy to me. Just saying.

Don't remember what the in game description of flashbang is, but the purpose of real flashbangs is to blind your target, essentially hiding you. I think flashbangs would fit into a stealth character.

At least in an immediate area sense. It would draw attention to the fight/disturbance in a more 'realistic' scenario, but for most fights it wouldn't be bad.

It is very difficult to hide your presence, when you have two fully armed minions with you, who don't care much about stealth....

Well, it is possible to remove them using gibbed save editor. I think cruc1al made a solo Infiltrator video.

Flashbang is amazing, but I wouldn't recommend it for infiltrators or soldiers.

I agree that it fits the stealthy character though. Blind your enemies and escape before they can hit you.

I don't think incinerate is a stealth power, either. However for an infiltrator it provides both a modest crowd control that you may need to cause a diversion or provide a little time to make an escape and another killing device that can be used from a position of relative security.

That it has a missile and isn't instant like Mordin's deffinitely destroys the whole stealth aspect of its use. However, having to pop out of cover for pretty much everything does enough to in my mind to reduce infiltrator to merely a soldier with a desire to stay away from the action. A fun class to play, but not stealthy in any sense of the word. And lacking a silent kill feature, it's more of a recon soldier than a hidden sniper any day.

The thing is, Infiltrators in ME aren't supposed to be Solid Snake like stealthy. You're supposed to be Predator stealthy. Hitting people with high damage weapons and abilities while concealing yourself.

Infiltrators are less ninjas and more Delta Force.

I would dump incinerate. It's redundant with your upped Widow/Viper, too flashy to fit the "stealth operative" label and steals valuable cooldowns from your cloak.

My Widow build:

Heavy Disruptor 10
Squad Cryo 10
Heavy Warp Ammo 10
Assassin Cloak 10
Agent 10 (Longer durations/faster cooldowns.)

He made several in fact; here's a CQC Infiltrator with Evi and cool spy music.

Imagine if he remade this with GPS and Locust...

GPS would only slow him down imho. Non charged up does less damage than Evi, charging it up takes 2s, and you need to be out of cover.

I'm not so sure:

A) You can charge it while walking over cloaked (he does that plenty.)
B) It has a larger clip for less reloads, and better range than the Evi as well (Less walk time; he does not have to get into melee range for all the pellets to hit.)
C) Even uncharged it is comparable to Katana, only more accurate.

Doesn't that count as "hostile action" and cloak ends? I think I read it somewhere on these forums.

Reloading is not an issue since he spends lot of time in cover.

Even if it did, you could start charge and then cloak before taking fire. But I don't think it does.

If you charge during cloak, cloak breaks.

To use them together, you start the charge before cloaking. You can break cover, start charging and hit cloak so quickly it's like one seamless action. Just takes practice. I do it all the time.

Charged shot does not break cloak. It's pretty lulzy. Oh, and it doesn't play nice with pause (which is kinda bad for me, because I pause all the time). You have to hit cloak with a hotkey for this to work.

I pretty much use the same build. I use the recon hood for a more stealthy look

Thanks, OG.

I don't know how it is on PC, but on XBox your class power is always hotkeyed (Y button by default). So charge-cloaking would never be a problem for me.

My biggest problem would be giving up Widow to try it, even though I love GPS. :(
And yes, Recon Hood with CQC Infiltrator is smex. For Widow I always go with Kuwaishi.
