When purchasing ME dlc and using the BioWare checkout, one of the options you can select is to buy BioWare points from your EA Account balance. Provided is a link to redeem an EA cash card.
I've looked around at several stores and I haven't found anything that looks like an 'EA cash card', other than one that seems to be for The Sims games. It says it's an EA cash card, but it has The Sims logo and art all over it, The Sims website addresses, etc. Every store has these.
Do these Sims cards put points into a generic EA account balance, which can then be drawn upon for BioWare points? Or are the codes on those cards only good for The Sims?

I have a similar question.
Want to puchase BioWare Points as a gift for someone else! (Would prefer to do it as a surprise, but that's another issue...)
Would be willing to use an "EA Cash Card", if that's the only method, but only if it would allow the recipient to obtain Dragon Age DLC.
Anyone know if this is possible?

I imagine if they're good for Mass Effect dlc they're good for Dragon Age DLC too.
I'm a little unnerved, though. I originally made this post in ME general discussion, and a moderator moved it here instead of just answering it. I would think he would know? Or would know someone that would know? o.O

Well, one of the things that happens when you get "acquired' by something as large as EA is that responsibility and control over subsidiary elements, especially low-volume, back-end transactions like these, gets handed over to "corporate". So the BioWare mods know to move the discussion, but don't necessarily know the answer.
I did get a response from a BioWarian regarding the ability to directly purchase BWPs as a gift for someone else. That answer was: "While on the list, unfortunately this is behind other modifications to the EA site that handles these things. Hoping it might happen in time for the holidays this year."
Those "other modications" include expanding the number of countries and currencies they can recognize/handle. (Also pointed out that BioWare's requests have to get in line with all the others that the EA site's team has to handle.)
