To begin, I must tell you I have played ME2 at least 4 times all the way through and thats not including DLC and reloads/restarts.

So when durning this playthrough, I was standing behind Joker, to hear his porn moment (finally).... I moved my mouse a bit to the right(by mistake), and noticed that there was a 'action' window (I call them clickies) in the cockpit...
so after several hundred hours of playing the game I discover there is a shutter control in the cockpit.

I am ashamed of myself, but find it highly amusing that after all this time playing the main game I found something I never found before.

So whats your D'oh! moment?
  • Was it something you missed through multiple playthroughs?
  • Was it getting your entire crew killed by mistake?
  • Was it something you did wrong and did not realize it till the last minute?
  • Or was it something really silly like thinking pursueing a romance with Morinth was a good idea?

In Mass Effect 1, the brief cutscene you can trigger next to the Prothean Beacon.

Didn't even have a clue it existed until two weeks ago. Missed it in about 10 playthroughs.

In Mass Effect 1. On my second playthrough I found out that I could rotate the camera and target individual enemies while using the "power wheel". I had completed and entire playthrough of Mass Effect playing it wrong

In Mass Effect 2, I suppose it was on my first playthrough going through the Joker mission the first time and trying to time the collectors on the final portion. Only to get caught and have to do the entire level over again and learning that I had to wait for the go ahead from EDI to tell me what to do.

What, the one where it pans out to Sovereign's landing site and they say "it's like a bomb went off"? Yeah, I missed that in my first like gajillion playthroughs.

Something else I missed on Eden Prime was that extra cutscene you get when you find Nihlus's body if you haven't mentioned Nihlus to Ashley yet. And I like that cutscene for some reason.

Must not be a completionist  then, IIRC you need it for a Codex entry.

I haven't seen it until just now, but I have the completionist achievement.

I got 1000/1000 in vanilla ME1 without ever seeing it.  Must have been able to get it somewhere else, then.  I remember because its the only game to this date I bothered to get completionist on at all.  Even spammed biotics on the damn MAKO for an hour to get it.

I'm referring to the Eden Prime one if there's any confusion about which.

Perhaps. I remember the only reason I saw it was because I was Achievement hunting.

Oh, haven't seen tht one yet (after at least 12 playthroughs). Gotta check it out tonight.

Biggest ME2 Do'oh moment:
Not exactly missing something but playing a Vanguard on the Tali recruitment mission on insanity, I set behind cover in front of the Colossus (almost defeated but with a few leftover geth around) and had apprx one millimeter life left. I hit pause and want to click the "barrier" bonus power button and accidentally click on "charge". Since you can't unselect shepards powers for some reason, I sat there with pause for a minute or so, knowing that I'd die instantly as soon as I release the spacebar. That was a do'oh moment :).

After playing the suicide mission a dozen times I finally noticed you can see the tech expert running in the pipe.

I've done that a couple of times with my soildier and Flashbang grenades.. pushed that instead of another power I wanted....
Managed to stun myself and my crew.... you can guess what happens when you do it on the Geth ship during Tali's mission.

D'oh!

Killed Miranda by accident in the playthrough that I wanted her to live, then kept her alive, also by accident, in the playthrough that I wanted her to die in.

Then I found the Omega-relay guide and all was fixed.

Still, made me facepalm.

Same here, to further the "D'oh" moment, I kept forgetting about it after finding it the first time.  Image IPB

I'll have to check this out, I'm about to do a runthrough for a new character.
Thanks for mentioning it.  Image IPB

I didn't notice until LotSB when the camera pans right through it.

During the Thane's loyalty mission I lost track of the guy, causing me to fail getting his loyalty.

Ha! I did that on normal, however it actually turned out okay for me because the Colossus's health was low enough that my Heavy Charge could do damage. Glad to know I'm not the only Vanguard who did that!

Are you serious? Almost every time you hit the valve, you are next to the pipe.

In 9 playthroughs I never heard Legions conversation about the geth building themselves a Dyson Sphrere type habitat until this week.

I was utterly amazed.
