Discovering that the Mako cannon had the ability to zoom using the shift key during my second to last sidequest before leaving for Ilos...

Super helpful once I found out, but still...pretty d'oh, at least for me.

In Mass Effect 1, the brief cutscene you can trigger next to the Prothean Beacon.

Didn't even have a clue it existed until two weeks ago. Missed it in about 10 playthroughs.

5th playthrough.
And only because I saw video on Youtube.

Needed like an hour to pass those LOKI Mech's and dogs on Freedom's Progress with many deaths with my lvl 30 Infiltrator on Insanity.

My entire first playthrough of the game, I didn't realize armor was customizable, and just assumed the pieces I got added to the stats. >.> In my defense, I had the CE and preorder armors as well. I'd been using those mainly and since you can't alter them at all, I just assumed the same held true for the N7 set.

I went back to ME1 a few days ago and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to melee. Seeing as how I do have the manual, I also cannot figure out how to get off my lazy butt to read it.

In ME1, the scene with Ashley and Kaidan on the Citadel, where they look out the window on the lower wards. Didn't know about it until my 6th playthrough.

In ME2, not really sure.

I didn't realize Liara was a actual squadmate with her own powers that I can level till just before I met the shadow broker. I thought she was just sn npc who followed all mission. I saw her using singularities but I didn't think I had control of her like a regular squaddie

Something else I missed on Eden Prime was that extra cutscene you get when you find Nihlus's body if you haven't mentioned Nihlus to Ashley yet. And I like that cutscene for some reason.

Thank you! This is how you get that extra part of the cutscene?!
I've reloaded finding Nihlus several times to get this scene--I had only gotten it once before and thought I had to approach him a certain way.....
I guess that's my D'oh moment.

To be fair, I put her Singularity on my action bar, but didn't stop to think why she only had 1 power. It was after Vasir's death then I realised I haven't distributed her skill points at all.

This!  I didn't discover this even after several playthroughs of the game.  What a great feature!

Yea I'm a console soldier so I never brought up the power wheel. I only noticed her up there when I went to change weapons.

I didn't find that until Noveria( first playthrough) since I remembered on some Youtube vid somebody zoomed in with Mako.
Checked the options and I saw shift is for zoom in?!

Spent many playthroughs on ME running around killing all the Geth to activate the core on Noveria then realised like the fourth time you just have to walk around one corner and it's right there i just walked in circles three times killing everything.

. Didn't realise where the geth in the tunnels were in Feros just killed the first couple and went back instead of going all the way through to do the side missions. Only recently figured all the achievements out.

Like many people i didnt realise you could zoom with the Mako cannon on my first playthrough.

Took three playthroughs to find the ship to activate the mission where you have to find out what happened to that guys brother.

ME 2 not as many mess ups

not multiple playthroughs but

Spent forever letting Kalreeger (can't recall how to spell it) fire at the Collosus not relising i need to take it out up close. Also didn't realise until my third playthrough that you can save him from dying by telling him to stay down.

Took half an hour running around afterlife before i figured out where Aria is.

You can use the Grizzly cannon? I had no idea. I tend to kill off those geth fast anyway.

You can also do it by killing the Colossus reasonably quickly.

Mass Effect 1:
-M4 Part2 as Credits song. Buyed this game spontanously without much thought other that I heard it was decent, played it through and had a brilliant game in hands and then this perfectly fitting credits theme. Pure Win!
-Grizzly Cannon useable on Noveria on my fifth or so playthrough. I was immediately more happy. Geth not so much I dare to note.
-Liara's dialogue on the Therum Mission when she's rescued after doing Feros and Noveria (totally hilarious, even more so because I was on a pure renegade run, muehehe)
-Nothing specifically in the game itself, but I once rammed a Husk with the Mako and it began flying like hell. It actually flew over a big hill that already was far away on its own account, ... I was giggling for like ten solid minutes!

Mass Effect 2:
-Shepards toilet (second playthrough)
-Legions Dialogue on Tali's Recruitment Mission and the Quarians on Legion when entering the Rayya
-Not really an "D'oh" moment, but more a player punch when I realized I could play Joker during that one mission (well, to be honest I realized it just the moment I got control after the cutscene, but it was player punch anyway and I was smiling the whole mission like some scary rapeface I guess)
-"D'oh" moment mixed up with a big portion of "I can't believe this idiocy!" when the Turian dismissed the Reapers. I was like "What the frickin' holy shiznitty f*ck was just this right there!?!?"
-Urz following me on Tuchanka after feeding it. Dawwwwww Image IPB

And last but not least, the mental "Epic What the f*ck"/"Bring it on suckers" outburst when seeing all those Reapers go online.

1. Thinking Tali and Legion (and by extension the Engineer class) were useless in combat until realizing that the Combat Drone can be spawned right next to enemies.

2. Forgetting that ammunition types have to be reset after a weapon loadout switch.

3. Sending Thane into the vents and making the Legion a second fireteam leader my first time through. D:

4. Letting Elnora stay alive.

Just so I understand you correctly. Did you buy the game and then the DLC to find out said DLC got released some time later for free

OR

Did you buy the game and paid for the DLC just to find out later you'd have gotten it for free anyway?
