So I love Bioware. No kiss *** here, no bull****. But seriously this is the first and only thing they have done that itches my rage nerv a little. I think the new character looks awesome and all. But most <-- real DAO fans are I am sure, like me, butt hurt we don't get to continue with the hero that you did so well at making sure were attached to. It's like Mass Effect but backwards. Everyone loved that in p2 Shep had the players personal flavor. DAO2 looks awesome like everything BW touches, but damn if I am not a little sad I have to forget about the hero I put so much time into in DAO. So many reasons to. For one Bioware is amazing at making us get into our heroes. But also the relationships and etc you form in DAO, the friendships. It would have been cool to see that story move forward. Hopefully in the future their will be another DAO. Not one that takes place during the same time as your heroes storyline, but after and continued with an import based on your champ. <3 ya Bioware just wanted to rage a little! Still the best ever and everything you touch, I'm buying. =)

you do know that hawke won't be the protagonist for the rest of the series, don't you?
every dragon age game will feature a different hero. it's not about the warden, nor is it about hawke, it's about thedas as a whole.

Who is this we?

Not sure I'd get my hopes up about playing the Warden in DA3. We could play Hawke again. We could play a Nug. To me it makes more sense that if you were continuing in DA3 you would transfer data from DA2 and not Origins.

Dragon Age was awesome, no doubt, but a non-speaking player character is old news, man. It worked for Baldur's Gate 1/2 / Neverwinter Nights (which are my all time favourite games) but after playing ME1 and ME2 then coming to Dragon Age where you're just playing this mute character, it's just pretty crap. Even KotOR lost some of it's magic in the face of Commander Shepherd's fully voiced character.

I totally support the move, and I think as a result the DLC situation for DA2 should be much better than in DA1 where you have different modules and have to move your character. With Hawke, hopefully it will follow the ME route where the DLC ties into the main campaign. No doubt that the Stone Prisoner and Wardens keep were the only worthwhile DA:O DLC's.

You know, BioWare never mentioned that they were transferring over stuff from Origins to any sequel until the sequel was announced. So, I never thought that the protagonist was going to transfer over. On wanting the Warden to return, that would just be wierd to me. If they keep the voiced protagonist thing, they would have to give the Warden a voice. Also, considering what can happen to the Warden, including death at the end of Origins, I'm doubting we will ever see the Warden again. Just references.

I got really attached to my Warden too...but there's no reason I won't get just as attached to my Hawke. Maybe he'll be even better than the Warden. Why not?

Thedas is big enough for the two of them, isn't it?

I hope I won't have to play again as Warden... its getting boring. If Awakening would have been a properly made sequel and not just a hushed expansion, it would have been better, but still, with that part of the story covered, as well as those DLC, I am done with that character. I don't want to play anything that has to do with him... Like BG it needs a finish before the story gets too old.

No, we must throw rocks at him. However, we must all throw flowers at her.

(nothing against malehawke, just making a joke.)

Somehow I don't think many ppl would appricate that when the time comes around. We'd see lots of "OMG, WTF why can't I play my Hawke in DA3 ????!!!!oneoneoneone".

...nahh a new hero for every DA seems fine. ME is a good game series but BW really doesn't need to funnel all their games into the same mould (they do enough of that already imo).

You don't quite understand the point of rock throwing do you? Someone get this girl off our team. She will be a liability in this revolution.

Email I got today made it sound like The Witches Hunt is the final chapter in the wardens story, so I wouldn't expect to see him/her expanded upon. I'm cool with that, got many hours of enjoyment out of the game, and will continue to do so, but ready to move on to something new and hopefully even better.

Actually, it's not entirely out of the question that we'll get to play Hawke again in DA3. I wouldn't mind if it were a case of DA2 having Varric finish his retelling of events and saying 'but now, I must go' and a montage scene of Hawke and company power walking out of Kirkwall.

Why do people always say "we" when they mean "I"?

To add weight to their words?

Hawke isn't even premade. It's a fully customizable character.

You know what Wardens do? Fight Darkspawn. That's about it. Yes, your Warden does a lot of odd jobs, but in general they're dedicated toward that task.

I'm interested to see what's in the world outside of the Darkspawn. It's much too soon to call up another Blight, so give Bioware a chance to do something else. Dragon Age isn't like Shepard's struggle against the Reapers, because the Warden does what he set out to do in the course of the first game.

Well they went down this road in ME with the same main character going through 3 games. They try a different approach in Dragon Age. It makes sense if you think about it, since doing the same thing over and over is kinda repetitive.

There are many reasons I sincerely doubt we'll ever play as our DA:O Wardens again, but here is the latest one: the Talent trees are being completely overhauled for DA2. This includes removing archery and dual wielding abilities from the Warrior class. Just for example, say I could import my Dalish Warden into a future game, but he forgot everything he knew about using a bow. That wouldn't make any sense! Even if there was an import function, people would have to rebuild their characters in many respects, from appearance with the new graphics engine to talents and skills. Somehow I doubt that would make a lot of people happy.

Thing I am strangely looking forward to: hanging out on the boards in a couple of years time when they are full of threads complaining about the new protagonist of DA3 and lamenting the passing into legend of Hawke.
