Basically you like some other dudes voice, instead of your inner voice...........okay.

Allow me to restate again:

Text-based protagonist  + Text based-NPCs = Good (Example: Baldur's Gate)
Text-based protagonist + Voiced NPC = Bad (Example: Dragon Age: Origins)
Voiced protagonist + Voiced NPC = Good (Example: Mass Effect)

Again, this is my opinion.  I would never create a forum thread saying "we" think any of it.

Your persistent personal attacks undermine your credibility.

I enjoyed the Warden's story but I really feel like it is time to move on. I want to explore more of the DA world and not just play the same character over and over again.

This is just sad.

We don't know anything about Hawke, and yet, you start a flaming/hate thread.

This is so getting locked, so, I won't waste more time here. You know, being rude and throwing crap at Hawke won't make the Warden return.

well in the first game you can select a race discover how is their place in the world... since when i readed of dragon age 2 i expected to play a qunari as a new race.. When i heared the choice is limited to humans well... I was a bit disappointed... They did it to make a vo charachter so.. its not this really great feature at all...

And what about gameplay from what i heared they insert skill and upgradable one but they cut off half ability of the warrior.. In roleplay fact this have any sense.. Why a warrior cant use bow? Or can't use dual wield weapons and be more angile than stronger?... Why i will be forced to make a muscolar woman like she hulk to be a warrior?... They maded better animation ok... But if you see what we earn and what we lost... We have not earn more than origins.. But we lost a few of great features..

Wait are you speaking in absolutes and dictating to others what is good and bad? Weren't you a self righteous forum crusader in this very thread too? :innocent:

EDIT: No one on these forums save bioware developers/writers have any to begin with. Thanks though.

Does a book talk back to you?

I read it out in my head, just like you do with your protagonist.  I'd rather games go one way or the other not meet in some half-arsed middle ground.

Text + Someone talking back at me = Clumsy

I'm all for text-for-text, like say Baldur's Gate.  But once  you start throwing in voices it better be a conversation, or it totally kills my immersion.  Didn't like it in DA:O, didn't like it in Fallout 3, heck I don't even like it in  Half-Life 2 and that isn't even an RPG.

It's not about not being able to read or being intimidated by choice.  I've got just as much of a well developed sense of taste as anyone else on these boards, and I'm damn sick of being talked down to like I'm some rube because I want to hear my protagonist speak.

Have some respect for opposing viewpoints and maybe I won't be so hostile to or dismissive of your opinions.

if anything, having the main character voiced provides opportunities for more body language. with the warden we usually end up like a stiff spectator with the occasional eyebrow waggle, fist shaking and murder knife animation

Nope, just restating my personal preferences.  You will never see me creating a thread in which I label them as shared by the entire forum.

You like some other dudes voice, instead of your own.

You like to click on an option that basically means nothing, because Shepard says something completely different to what it says on screen anyway.

They could fix that...without adding voice.

I have no earthly idea how you could think that's what I mean.

I like consistency.  If the NPCs speak, I want my character to speak.  That simple.

Its not a hate thread for me... I only disappointed because they cutted of nice features and customization to make a few of update...

I think we will find the new class a bit static from origins and not in terms of gameplay but in terms of roleplay to keep class distinct they have cut customizations opportunity and this is bad... If you see many game and rpg of the past you can use different way to keep class distinct whitout ruin anything.. In fact.. some choices they did are no explanable in roleplay terms and this is for a roleplay game is like a cancer..

Well now you can play pictograph, no reading required. Fisher price might indeed have to implement something similar to this in their kids books to make it more interactive.

Voiced protagonists can get pretty creepy when it comes to romance dialogue. Shepherd just seemed like a voyeuristic creep to me during those dialogue sequences

No, it's an absolutely appalling thread. Read some of the other replies - casual racism, homophobia and personal attacks. It may have started with harmless intent but it's quickly devolved into some of the very worst of these forums.

I'm actually looking forward to playing a brand new character, and not the old warden. While it can be fun to follow the same character through multiple games (like Mass Effect), it's also refreashing with a "clean slate", so to speak. I know that decisions made in DA1 will be able to affect things in DA2, but it still feels like a new start.

What's good about that is the fact that I won't feel compelled to play the entire DA1 everytime I want to start a new DA2-character, to get a higher level and other bonuses at the start of the game, just like Mass Effect 2.

So I definitely DO want to play a new character, and not the Warden.

I'm really interested to hear more about the save import feature. I really wonder if the decisions we made will  "Shape the World" or will just basically be fill in the blanks and vague references.

Him.  I'm just proud of my FemShep.  Should probly change it to my ManShep just to avoid these issues.

Anyway, since my critics in this thread like reading they'll be happy to read that I'm bailing on this thread.  It no longer serves any purpose, not that it had much of one to begin with.
