Okay so I was told that suggestions for BSN are welcomed. I've been putting together notes of my minor greivances so as to put them into one concise collection. I appreciate many of them will not be easy fixes and some require significant server stress. I also expect some of these are already roadmapped, but here they are anyway:

GENERAL
  • Search bar with dropdown for Threads, Projects, Groups, Blogs or All in navbar or top of page
  • searches title AND contents of threads, projects (incl discussions), etc.
  • Cookie bug results in Opera users having to delete all cookies from the site, or else perpetual sign-in. Not sure if this affects other browsers)
  • Images/attachments in forum threads and group/project discussions.
  • Cannot upload avatar pictures unless you own DA and can be bothered with the tedious workaround... just allow any pictures, or caution non-template pic owners if that is the preferred stance.
  • Preview Post option for forums, project/group discussions etc
  • Backslash and capitalisation bug in the word "class" breaks URLs

ACTIVITY FEED (Home)
  • Allow users to turn on all feed from all bioware devs without having to friend them all ("BioStalk" :P)
  • Bioware Announcements (DLC, other announcements) that all users get in their feeds
  • Allow URL links in status updates and comments (at least internal ones!)
  • Resolve inconsistency between the feed displaying the text when friends post in groups and projects, but not displaying the text in forum posts.
  • Do not display text in posts which I do not have access to (friends posting in private groups). Better yet, don't show them at all.
  • Forum thread subscriptions come through like group subscriptions (on the right) or in the activity feed itself? (Currently Home page shows nothing for thread subscriptions)
  • Replace the Featured Projects with "trending projects" (high popularity + per day)
  • Ditch the Newest Members/Recommended Friends section, not really useful - subscribed threads etc would be preferable (see below)
  • Group/Project/Forum-specific "enable/disable feed" to get all feed from an object, or force none, even from friends.

PROJECTS
  • Filters for projects ("Project Status", "Game" at the least)
  • Properly deleting posts in discussions (not "this post has been deleted")
  • Sort by date/Popularity in past 7 days
  • Allow BBCode in project descriptions (specifically allow URL)
  • Project Gallery - "click to view fullsize"
  • Project Comments: sort by most recent first, or some way to "go to end"
  • Allow transfer of project ownership or other members to change the Project description, image etc.
  • Be able to remove "popularity vote", or possibly even up/down endorsements

FORUMS
  • Temporary: integrate google site search
  • Search which searches within the contents of the thread as well as just the title
  • Search which allows for exact search terms (google: "in quotes" vs. not in quotes)
  • Allow image attachments (said earlier, but can't be over-requested)
  • Sort Forums by user's Persona (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, WAR)
  • Drop down Forum selection to navigate to any forum from any page within Forums section

GROUPS
  • Group search
  • Send messages to entire group/mailing lists (Leader/Officers-only)
  • Stop user's own group posts coming through in their Home Page group subscriptions
  • Group discussion - go to end/OP (not just "next/previous 10")
  • In Groups page, My Groups window on right, similar to Projects "Subscribed Projects"

Of course, I can elaborate on any of these. Hope it helps!

Good ones. I especially hope the Projects page will get some work done and quickly.

I'd like to add a few more -

A drop down list of forums that you can select and jump to that forum from any forum.

Also, remove the recommendations for friends...what is it anyway? I don't see any kind of logic in the recommendations.

I don't know if this is just me but there is no pagination on the blogs page.

All very good suggestions. Wish we knew more on exactly what web development changes were being considered, but I suppose if they hinted at any of it, they'd get a constant stream of "Is it done yet? Is it done yet? Is it done yet?"

Drop down list for forums would be great. Bet no one knows there's a forum for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. :P

I've always wanted a PREVIEW post. Especially since copying and pasting into a form can cause awkward formatting issues.

As for pagination on blogs, there is a way to see it that's not easy to access. Normally you'd go here: http://social.biowar.../user_blog.php. But if you use your user number, it takes you to all your blog posts that allows you to follow to the next page once you reach the bottom of the page. For instance, mine would be http://social.biowar...m/944217/blog/. Timelord, if he had a blog, would be http://social.bioware.com/53997/blog.

For the search function, I pretty much tell people what mikemike already suggested: use Google. Adding that search feature to the site would help tremendously.

Allowing an activity feed of sorts for all the latest posts to the groups to which someone's subscribed. As it is, I have to click on each group to see if anything new has been posted.

My suggestion for Projects:

Change Popularity to Thumbs up/Thumbs down Endorsement
system; also, have EA put some kind of rule in the Terms of
Service forbidding "Endorsement Solicitation" or holding
updates until a certain number of positive endorsements is
reached. (Big gripe about the current "number one most
popular mod" on Projects)

For Groups:

The ability to disable display of player posts in specific groups,
rather than the current global on/off option.

General:

Please, for the love of the Maker, fix the backslash and
capitalization bug with the word "class"; I don't know how
many times I've posted links to the class creation tutorial and
people keep getting the "page does not exist" page on the
Wiki.

I might add others later, but these are the ones I'd like to
see.

@Pacifien: If you click the "subscribe" option for the groups you're a member of, there will be a list of new posts on your personal home page. I use that quite a bit.

Preview would be great, especially as you can never tell how the forum is going to format your posts.

Also, Pacifien, about the blogs - I meant you couldn't browse through them. If you click the Blogs button in the navigation bar at the top, you are just presented with the first page. I've never figured out how to move past that one page.

Oh right, I was going to post what to do about that, too.

http://social.biowar...e_blogs.php?p=1

Then if you want to go to the second page, change 1 to 2.

Again, would be better if there was simply a way to scroll through them like you do the pages of a thread, but it's something at least.

Some great ideas! I had a look through the project pages earlier and like 80% of projects at least are dead, with no updates for months and/or created when project was in the concept stage and neve got any further. Obviously it's been mentioned many times and I'm sure a filter is in the pipeline but I'd also suggest changing the popularity function to something like a star rating, that only people who have downloaded that addon, can rate. Similar to XBLA/PSN. This gives a much more accurate indication of it's quality.

Perhaps remove projects to an Inactive section if they haven't been updated in 3+ months. It will simply take one bit of activity from the author to move it out of there too if they come back to it. I'd suggest a more fleshed out project home page too to highlight newly released addons, perhaps an add-on of the week section, that kind of thing.

I know it's been mentioned already but just my 2 cents. Great initiative Mikemike, I'm sure the mods will take a lot of it on board!

The other problem with the Project page is that the Updated date doesn't change. I know I've changed my project's description and URL a couple of times and the date hasn't changed at all!

Pacifien, thanks for that tip :)

Known issue, like some other things that have been mentioned. :(
