Depends on the difficulty. Hardcore is debatable, but anything Veteran and less is easily beatable without it. On Insanity however, it's basically a must have. There are so numerous situations where you need the breather a Stasis provides, especially in boss fights and certain stages where Hunters, Sentinels and the like are bound to to you behind your last cover while most of the enemy squad is still alive and shooting. Those situations either require wasting a lot of heavy ammo, or using Stasis to slow the big mob down while taking down the help, and then switch positions while taking the big mob down 3 vs 1.

In Insanity, the adept class is seriously screwed against those dual defenses where practically everything has shield/barrier + armor, and can regularly kill the adept through their shields in under 1 second (even with mediocre upgrades). The Stasis is a long-awaited fix for that. But as said, especially in Veteran or less, all Stasis does is waste your time, as you can basically just stand there and shoot everything without even issuing commands to your team.

Agreed. My adept used Stasis to survive until after Horizon. At that point, however, I could finally get decent biotics upgrades and suddenly even that character didn't need Stasis anymore.

Stasis is useless on Veteran and below. 90 % of enemies don't have defenses, just press any button and they're goners.

Singularity locks down powerful enemies with ease. All bosses you'll face in ME2 are disabled using Singularity plus you can attack them unlike while enemies are in Stasis.

Those situations either require wasting a lot of heavy ammo, or using Stasis to slow the big mob down while taking down the help, and then switch positions while taking the big mob down 3 vs 1.

I don't use HWs and I never needed Stasis to play Adept on Insanity (no squadmates needed either). Stasis won't stop a mob, Singularity does and you can warp detonate the mob too, basically ending the fight.

Again, Singularity will do just fine against dual protected enemies (unfortunately you won't see many of them), Stasis is seriously OPed due to its massive damage bonus. But all it adds to the Adept arsenal is an instant cast, 100% reliable, single target killer. Very effective no matter what class you're playing.

Agreed
