Too many people poked Pac with a stick and called hiphop dead.

Hiphop didn't die, pop started recruiting rappers and everybody got confused.

This is a thread for raw hiphop, no autotune unless used for satire.

Everyone knows classical hiphop is great but let's keep this > 1999 to prove the point. Sub catigories like househop and rap-n-roll are welcome (but no pophop please). All though this thread will be majority underground, this isn't a thread about underground. Mainstream can be real too.

I will start off with the main players in the game and then get to the people with less fame.

We are all teachers here, post away.

i know not everyone will have the same musical tastes, but come on, folks! Let's not disparage other people's musical preferences. I like hop hop because it's a great combination of rhythm and spoken word, two forms of communication I'm very passionate about. Usually, though, I'm into the parody and nerdcore rap since I didn't grow up in an urban ghetto.

Here are some of my favourites:

MC Frontalot - It Is Pitch Dark

Notorious MSG - Straight Out Of Canton

Keny Arkana - La Rage

KRS-One, Zach de la Rocha, Last Emperor - C.I.A.

Public enemy & Anthrax - Bring the Noise

House of Pain - Jump Around

Onyx - Slam Harder

Run DMC - King of rock Run DMC - King of rock[/url]

Naughty by Nature - O.P.P.

This is a discussion, so criticism is welcome. These are Bioware forums so ultimately it is up the the mods, but I'm not crying about it.

Thanks for the Language warning tag too, I forgot. Not all Bioware games are as bloody as Dragonage.

Nice selections Stanely. I never heard Onyx before and I like him, very raw.

From my selections, you will probably like Duck Down records the best because they keep it old school even in their new stuff. Check out the 15 year anniversary show and the evolution of Duck Down.

the stuff between 1981 and 1992 is great. nowadays, all i listen to is old skool rap and underground. i cannot stand any of that commercial garbage that is around these days. anybody who is bumpin' lil wayne in their ride deserves to have trash thrown at them. the same goes for those morons who listen to and like soulja boy.

I know 2 others. 50 Cent which is a Monster!

and 2-PAC that is good, as I've heard several of the tracks.

i hope you're joking about 50 cent. 2pac was okay since he was one of the focal points in the west coast-east coast rivalry. i happened to be living in los angeles county as the west coast-east coast thing started firing up. the 90s was an interesting decade for all styles of music.

I don't care for a lot of the current stuff either. That Lil Jon stuff doesn't fly with me, but i kinda like what Jay-Z's been doing.

Some other videos I watch over and over:

Rascalz - Northern Touch

Organized Rhyme - check the O.R.

Maestro Fresh We - Let Your Backbone Slide

Does this count as good hip-hop? It is pre-1999.
