A Question:
What is the difference between Rap, Hip Hop and R&B ?

Rap: Usually steady beats or repeated ones that basically have a artist rapping over them. Lyrics usually controversial or "real".

Hip-hop: Like rap, but can contain infulences from different music styles

R&B: It means Rythem and blues. Singing not rapping. And is like a modern blues. EX: Mary J. Blidge.

These are just the superficial meanings.

Rap long ago was good now it's just so-so:?.

Rap is just the vocals. Hiphop is the blend of rap, the beat, the dance, the art, etc.

R&B has regular lala la singing.

Don't people just listen to rap so they can better associate themselves with the clubbin' scene or so they can look like "playas"?

I wasn't aware anyone actually listened to it because they actually enjoyed it.

Here's some stuff by MC Ren, the most overlooked rapper that was in N.W.A., who had to stand in the shadows in Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Eazy-E, but made some decent stuff on his own.

Mad Scientist
Kizz My Black Azz
Hounddogz
Final Frontier

Most ignorant people get Rap and Hiphop mixed up. Nowadays you will see television and things like Zune make one genre and name it Hiphop when there is a significant difference. Also, you cannot put one category of rap into one genre, when there are many. From hardcore to whack, rap has so many genres. And people like Chingy (considering you guys remember him) is a pop singer, not a rapper. Real difference between rap and hiphop. Hip-Hop is the name of the culture. It includes DJ'ing (the beat, the music), B-Boying (the dance, also known as breakin), Graffiti art (muralism, tags,) and Rap (the word, the voice). Rapping is what an emcee (mc, lyricist) does when he orates to the beat. Many schools of thought include the 5th element of knowledge, which in an overstanding of self, community, history, and divine purpose.

Mate, it's music, if you dont like it why are you posting in here. I dont like most hip hop, just the good stuff and it aint the only genre of music I like, personally I think it's foolish to only like one genre. If you think real hip hop is about clubbing and being ''playas'' you aint listening to hip hop, you're listening to sh*t. Honestly most music thats on tv is sh*t. and thats why I dont watch music channels.
