Dropbox Referral Program - NWN2 Use

I just installed Dropbox a few days ago. For those who do not know, it seems to be the choice for NWN2 players/module authors/persistant world admins/builders etc for sharing files.
Dropbox is a backup system where you can backup your files between computers and back them up on the internet too. They offer 2 GB of space for free. But, here's the interesting part. If you refer someone or are referred by someone, you get an extra 250 MB. The max size of your backup space is 10 GB.
So now I am kicking myself because, if I had been referred by someone, I would now have 2.25 GB of space. Instead I just signed up. So I have 2 GB of free space.
So I thought I would help both myself and all of you by giving you my referral link. If you sign up for Dropbox directly, you get 2 GB. If you click on my referral link, you get 2.25 GB. And you can all refer people yourselves and get free space if they sign up.
Another thing to keep in mind is that this is a backup program. So it can be used to store backups of any files, not just NWN2 ones. And you can share them if you want with others.
Here is the info. It says 8 GB but that is 2 GB to start with and an extra 8 GB from referrals to a total of 10 GB:

Here is my referral link:

And if you just want to sign up without referrals, here is the main page to learn more:

Ah, if only the internet were truly free and we could all have unlimited space available to share files. Sadly, this is not the case. However, Dropbox' 2GB free storage does make for a nice way to share your files with all and sundry. You can have a public folder where anyone with your url can go grab the files (Perfect! for Beta and Alpha testers to get your module) or you can have private folders that are shared with specific individuals (Perfect! for development and sharing of files in a team project) and as long as you don't exceed that 2GB limit, you're good to go.
Just watch out for NTB and those L3DT files -- he gets a little carried away. Then again, he is the President.
And to quote our esteemed Highest Official:
NEAT!
is what Dropbox is.
So I see potential for referrals to some degree that should allow some users (I would suggest this be a volume sharing account or accounts) to get that 10GB of free space that would allow a secondary file site to allow folks who aren't ready to upload to the Vault their stuff to share with others or to allow them to have a private section for development within the NWN2 environment.
And, I am sure that there are plenty of NWN folks that could use this as well (I'm sure that there are plenty of NWN folks already using Dropbox, too, but the idea of creating a storage account, hmm) for doing the same thing -- though their file sizes are not nearly as large. I guess that would only mean they get more Dropbox out of the same amount of storage, relative to NWN2 files.
Hard to go wrong with Dropbox.
I have read the OP and can verify that this is not spam. And in this case, even if it was, it's the good kind. Mmm, tasty.
best regards,

You can even use this for your PW with the autodownloader. Players who connect to your world can autodownload the required files from your Dropbox account. Not directly from your computer but from a mirror on the internet.

I don't always get a chance to point out where I am, indeed, a first class ninja, but this is one of those times.

Yeah, I too got it without doing the referal thing. Still haven't used it yet but I'm guessing it'll probably come in handy. Unfortunately I've been busy recently so haven't even toughed the toolset in a couple of weeks, but if I ever do get around to beta testing something, dropbox will be right there with me. ;-)
Outside of NWN2 use, it is perfect for backing up the files on your computer.

Raptor: fùguǎnbíguǒfú

Ye Xiao Leng Yu, please.
LOL
Sounds good. I'm just glad you didn't include raptor...
This reminds me a bit of the Drow hero/god that I created for my campaign. He is called "Jet Black Demon Fox".

Another free tool that is invaluable and I've been using for quite some time is xmarks. It syncs all your favorites/bookmarks across multiple computers and browser types. As far as I know its the only one that does this across browsers. Its really a time saver. But the bad news is, the free model backfired on them and they are forced to close up shop.

However, the outcry spurred them to make an attempt to determine interest in a paid service. They set up a petition and if enough people sign it (honour system) and it reaches critical mass, they will try to maintain the service.
I encourage people to try it out and sign the petition if you like it. Please, save the whales...er bookmark sync.
And if anyone knows an alternate sync tool across browser, please by all means share the link with me (just in case). How are we to find the NWN2 social site when away from home without our bookmark sync?
