It might have no windows but it certainly has a locked door. At least it does now... =P

Though I'm pretty much resigned to having the lithographs wrap around the entire room now instead of all on one wall. I'll still attempt to get them all in one picture once they are all framed though.

My speciality is picking locks :P

Anyone know what is the best place to order custom frames? The new Team lithograph is of a ridiculous size and no one is selling 39.5 x 22 frames.

Depends where you are.  eframe.co.uk got a good review in a photo mag a year back so I'll probably give them a try; haven't used them before though, so there's no point in me making a personal recommendation to anyone, at least not yet...

For just a 18 by 24 frame with a 10mm frame is £38. If you buy 10 then it's a 15% discount and 10% if 5-9 frames.................

I just bought the standard size frames from Amazon for about £30 each--nice frames, too, shame they seem to have discontinued them.  But for the monster lithographs they're not much good, so I need to get something custom made, which means expense.

A couple of things have put me off eframe a little: first is that they don't create an account or have any other means of checking the order status; the other is that they say they'll charge a fiver for redelivery if you're not in, which is a bit of a cheek.  So I guess I'll have to see how good their products are with my mount & backing order before I commit to buying a frame from them.

Lots of great information in this thread as well as some impressive collections. A quick thank you to archive-th for recommending www.hollywoodposterframes.com; they seem to be just what I was looking for. I purchased my first lithograph and have been looking for a frame that will protect/preserve my purchase and some vendors are charging ridiculous prices. I'll post a picture of my framed litho once I get everything in order in a few weeks, fingers crossed to a smooth delivery!:D

Well, that's a bit of a worry. I decided to test my "acid free" backings and mounts with a pH test pen just to make sure there were no problems, and nearly all were partly or entirely quite acid to very acid. These things weren't cheap, either. Not really sure what they're playing at.

Where did you get them from?

There's been a development, so I'll wait to see how it pans out before deciding whether or not to name them!  They were packed in hardboard (MDF, whatever), which is a good idea to stop them getting creased, but a bad idea since hardboard is full of acids and other crap.

It's now looking like the tester may have just picked up on a thin surface residue which appears to have mostly gone away: I'll give it another try tomorrow to see how they're looking, but it's no longer showing quite as much acid.  I guess there's probably not enough to damage artwork, especially if they're unpacked and allowed to air, but I shouldn't jump to conclusions again since I may have already done just that.  I suppose it ultimately depends how much they've absorbed.

Perhaps not the best medium to pack them with, though.  And it stinks.

Stupid question but if you buy a 24 x 18 frame. Is it a frame made to be able to frame a 24 x 18 piece of artwork or is it just a 24 x 18 frame.

The size of the glass will be 24x18, typically with a 1/4" rebate all the way round; so if you wanted to use a mount, for example, you'll need to get a larger frame to fit; otherwise, it's the size of the picture, assuming you don't mind it being a snug fit and a slight margin being obscured.

Edit: in my experience, that is.  I'm not an expert on framing...

Looks like will need to ask the companies themselves.

Just picked up a few frames at Michael's today. Not sure if it's nationwide or not, but a huge number of their frames were 50% off. I got some nice 24x18 silver ones for $12.49 apiece. Not heavy duty or anything, but they do the trick and look pretty decent for those looking for something that'll work on the cheap

Sigh... It's cost me $170AU to frame each of my lithos. That's why I have five (and two minis) I haven't framed yet. I shudder to think what the Team litho is going to cost to get done.

I'm in the same boat, impossible to find frames with inch measurement here in Sweden...:pinched:

I'm getting a new frame for my Pragia (currently only litho I have) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on ideas for color scheme I was thinking a dark brown or cherry wood for frame. Also what size is good for the litho so the black lines are not there but everything else shows up, like TIM above me?

Thanks

Hey I have a question about getting a litho framed.  I just recieved my "The Team" litho and obviously love it and it looks amazing and unlike past lithos where I just purchased a decent frame and did it myself I want to get this one done professionally if it is not too much, so my question for someone is how much does it about average to get something like this framed?  Also considering I know it might cost a bit, if I do deicde to go about it myself where online might be a good place to purchase the tools to do it, you know like the frame, matting, acrylic, and mounting board?  Any help or tips is appreciated.

Is it just me or is the special edition of The Team lithograph actually 39"x22" and not 39.5"x22"? Glad I always measure mine before ordering frames.

This thread has been a lot of help. What matting color do you think I should I use for The Team?

I measured these dimensions as well. Has anyone else measured this? I want to make sure I'm not just imagining things, but it doesn't seem to be the dimensions it was listed as.

Really? Awesome, I hope your right.  That .5 extra of an inch will stop me splashing out a lot of money on a custom built frame!  There was no way I would cut off the edges to fit.   As it is 39" is 99.6cm (or there abouts) so it will fit a 100cm frame.

Im waiting for my Litho to cross the Atlantic still, but looking forawrd to getting it hanging up :)
