After some investigation I think the 'Bainbridge Artcare foam boards' are the good stuff.Quole wrote...
Can you literally buy `backing paper?` I assume you cant just use the paper that comes with the frame. I would appreciate any advice.
I found these.

Also a question for you pros - I'm placing my order now and my options for backing are MDF or foamcore. What is recommended?
Thanks guys

Not MDF! Not unless you're planning on using some sort of barrier: MDF is really art-unfriendly.Stinkface27 wrote...

Finally got round to hanging my Team litho; not great photos but should give some idea:

The litho - sorry about the flare of the spotlight but it was either that or lots of other annoying reflections.

In situ. Whatever that means.

Also, using a frame, is it necessary to have paper backing the picture in the frame? Or just have the litho on it own?

I personally didn't want wooden frames because I felt that these works fit well with the feel of metal. To me the frames meaning is to support and be one with the artwork. I especially like these frames because their coloring greatly varies depending on the lighting and angle they are viewed. For example my The Team lithograph's frames coloring might resemble a very dark shade of blue, purple or cold gray, whereas my Tali lithograph's frames coloring changes between dark brown, black and slightly greenish gray.
I took better quality pictures of my previously framed lithographs so that those who are interested may see their frames better.

Paper between the litho and the foamboard? No.Quole wrote...

If you don't want a mat, you should have this: Foamboard--->Litho--->Acrylic
Good to know. Luckily I'm using wood.antique_nova wrote...
Advice to all those framing. Wood is better for framing than metal, because it's easier to seal the back with tape to prevent dust and bugs from getting behind the artwork.

Thanks very much! I figured it was probably not a good idea, just based on the wiki explaination of what exactly MDF is, but I thought I'd ask some experts
By the way, your team litho looks terrific! And I spy with my little eye your Geralt head! Very awesome.

I am finding framing to be a little frustrating, though: it seems every time I'm just about happy with what I've done, I find something I should've done better. Putting barrier card in the frames isn't too much of a big deal, and buying decent UV-resistant glass is a bit of an expensive add-on, though having just discovered that some of my frames should ideally be less of a snug fit is a bummer. Fortunately the Team frame isn't afflicted but my "'70s" Portal 2 litho is: then again I wanted to reframe it anyway so I could fit its certificate in there too, so I guess it all works out in the end...

I went for Black frame with a beveled edge and a double Mat. Black with Mercury Silver.
Kept the frame black to go with the rest of my Litho's, But this is the only one that will be matted

I went with the Mercury Silver to continue on with the Foil accents..
Hope You like..

Also, grill the clerks about how they will be treating your artwork. There are good stores...and then there are plenty of bad stores. If you get a bad store...they may chop up your artwork and think you wouldn't notice.
Furthermore, Michaels will only insure the artwork up to a value of 250 dollars. If your art is worth more than that and they damage, destroy, lose, or the store goes up in flames, when you signed over the artwork for the framing materials to them, you sign that they only have to pay you up to 250 dollars for it. Keep that in mind. I typically keep my artwork and wait for the framing materials to come in to actual deliver and have them framed because of that.
Edit: typo and added Insurance information
