Team is framed!

This frame has grown on me, but I'm going to have to replace that glass with plexiglass at some point. I'm too worried about it breaking...

In reality the tree is much lighter; almost as if it had been treated with white oil.

Those are some nice frames :). I just want Miranda for my collection now, nothing else.

So I bought the Earth Alliance Lithograph when it came out, since then it has stayed in its seal rolled up in the tube I got it in, I was wondering if keeping it rolled up is a bad choice and if it could potentially ruin something.

I think Treehouse said the materials the litho is covered in is acidic, not designed for long time storage, but I could be wrong.

Balls. Well maybe I should get frames instead of getting the next 2 lithographs -_-.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it's difficult to tell whether the Earth Alliance litho is damaged when it's sealed in its original packaging. It may appear to be in mint condition when sealed, but when removed from its packaging, you may find that it's actually not in great shape; and yes, the packaging is acidic, so over time the litho may turn brown around the edges.

Damn, is there anyway to store the lithographs without getting frames asap (not a lot of room atm). Ill check on them to make sure nothing is brown. I agree the Earth Alliance looks very nice.

While keeping your litho in the tube for long term storage is a bad idea, it can take some time for acid damage to take effect. If you frame it within the next year or so you should be more than fine.

If you have 18x24 lithos they sell art portfolios you can buy that have acid-free plastic sleeves that can protect your artwork as well.

Ok so for the standard size ones just find art sleeves that are acid free and I should be fine keeping them in there until I have room for the frames? What do you suggest I do with the Earth Alliance one aside from framing it?

This is the an example of a portfolio that others on this board have recommended:

www.artsupply.com/portfolio/itoyaartcare.htm

For the Earth Alliance, I don't know what I would do for that one aside from framing it.  They don't really sell art portfolios that large that would be cheaper than getting it framed.   If you take it out of the sleeve/tube and just leave it out, it could sustain damage from UV light since it wouldn't be protected.

So this portfolio will allow me to store my standard sized lithos for as long as I need without ruining anything right?

The Itoya portfolio is a great solution and it's acid free and all that. I use one myself.

There's a more highend solution available but it costs a lot more.

There are boxes available for the oversized lithos. These are also expensive.

It may be a necessary thing until I can get my own place with room and enough cash to start framing them. Could you link me to the boxes for the oversized?

So very cheap :) making your own box of the right materials would probably be cheaper.

It doesn't say acid-free though. You might want to send them an email about that.

Damn I never realized the plastic would damage the lithos....I think I might get one of those art portfolios ArtofBrad recommended. Do you guys know anywhere in the UK that sells them? I have had a look and the only ones I can find are in the US and postage costs more than the portfolio.

The latest lithos I have got are not in plastic, they are rolled in a tube and have some paper around them...I know it's not ideal for long term storage but is it better than keeping them in the plastic? If so I'll take the ones I have that are in plastic and put them in a tube.

I would avoid rolling them as much as possible. I believe Kem1995 found a UK-seller for the portfolio.

On a different note here's a rather extreme example of UV-damage.

It's not a piece of art but it's still paper.

So Im looking for a sleeve for my Earth Alliance lithograph and I finally found a site this site http://www.dickblick...int-protectors/ which has sizes that will fit it. Anybody know what brand or which one of those I should get? Ill still have to create a box but it would be better to have the sleeve for it at least.

Hey, thanks for that. Let us know how you go with whatever you purchase? I need something for my oversize lithos, and I really don't want to spend mega bucks on framing something I have no room to hang.

Actually, I found someone on eBay selling one. Luckily he was in the UK.

I just leave me Earth Alliance and Crucible lithographs rolled up. Not going to frame them or leave them lying around so it's the best for now.

So, I've gone on quite the acquisition spree. Completely hooked on the lithos, albeit late in the game. I've managed to get all of the ME1/2/3 lithographs but 4 (Team, Archangel, Miranda and Citadel) Only because I need to catch my breath! I haven't started framing them but can't wait to have them all up! Saren and Illium are getting framed first!
