I have a Glycee (or however its spelled) print of a Rob Seel E30 M3 painting, and call me crazy, but I like the simple, minimalist, unadulterated look of just sticking it in-between the glass and the back board in a slightly too big frame. Considering practically everyone does NOT do that, it's unique too. And if the fit isn't tight, it makes it look just suspended there

I should hopefully have my frames in a few weeks. They're coming from the US so hopefully they get here fine. I should have them up and I'll snap a shot and post it when I get a chance. :D

I just bought 6 frames from Michaels, they had a buy one get one for one cent. So I paid $64 after tax for 6 frames... cheaper and better than Walmart :D!

I was thinking of buying these frames with the 18" x 24" being 45.7cm x 61cm and Gallery Acrylic 100% UV repellent glass.
http://ppwrd.de/uk82100#anc2

Do you goys think it's a good option, since I live in Europe?

Looks nice. Can't comment on price though :P
The right glass is important if it's going in a bright room or sun hits the wall it will be displayed on. So what youv'e chosen seems fine. Only other thing I'd suggest if you want some form of acid free backing.

I haven't found any retailer who sell those internationally :(

Hi Guys,
To all the Aussie people here who have had their stuff framed can I ask if it is better to get some place to do it for you or just order the frames online and do it yourself?
It's just I've heard that it can be quite expensive detting someone to do it here.

Thanks

It's very very expensive here. And chances are they'll stick your litho to some crappy backing. I use to get my frames from a local store, but they changed management or something. So the price was even more expensive that it use to be. So the last batch of frames, which hopefully comes soon!, I got online. I found that I basically got three frames for the price of one here.

I should be getting my Kirkwall Gate litho in a week or so here. It's my first litho, and really, it's the first thing I've had that I care about framing properly. Can anyone more familiar with lithos and/or framing in general answer a few questions?

1. How do they arrive in the mail? Are they secure enough to keep around the house for a few days, or...

2. Should I choose a frame/mat before it arrives so I can have it framed immediately? The only problem there is I don't really know what mat colors are going to be good to go with it.

3. When you do get something custom framed, do you just take it into a store and have them do it? Or do you just order the stuff and do it at home? I don't want to risk damaging it during transportation. The answer to #1 might shed some light on this too.

4. I gather 22" x 39" are pretty unusual dimensions; is this going to result in a higher price for a custom frame?

5. Is there a certain name or term for the kind of frame that I see in most of these pictures (black, very small, unobtrusive, and simple)?

Thanks! Can't wait to see it in person.

Edit: Hmm, just got around to reading some of this thread's earlier pages more closely...I see mention of a frame being included with a 39" x 22" DA2 litho in some posts by BioWareStore Jedi about a month ago...so does that mean all of this is superfluous because it's going to come already framed? ^_^

Still, even if that's the case, I'd still be curious about the questions above. These lithos look really great; I doubt this will be the only one I ever buy.

The litho is going to arrive in a tube. This is the first time in quite awhile they have used tubes and from past experiences MANY people had damaged lithos. However, Jed will be happy to replace them is they do get damaged.

The rest of the framing is really up to you. You should really wait for it to arrive before you get a frame so you can match colors, etc. For custom framing, that's going to cost a lot of money and it will definitely look better. You may need to custom anyways as the dimensions are a bit weird so they may not have the frame. It really depends on how much money you have to spend.

Finally there will be no frame, Jed said the price point would've been to high so there will be no frame.

I checked out custom framing at Aaron Brothers...and it actually might not be too bad. For a cheap frame, with glass, it was going to cost just over 100 bucks, and they had a sale going on for an additional 40% off. Don't know that such is still the case, but that's nothing compared to what I thought it might end up being.

The closest you'll be able to find in a store is probably 26x40. That means you'd have half an inch on the sides, and 2 on the top and bottom. If you put some white construction paper behind these, it MAY not look so bad...I'm actually very interested in seeing what options people end up coming up with.

Decided to move my full sized lithos into the hallway outside my bedroom...Apologies for the reflections and bad color quality...such is the result of using a cheap camera and flash in an enclosed space with hard lighting.

All Lithos:

I left plenty of space for future lithos...so I will be able to hold 12 more ME lithos (after the 3 character pack), and another 4 DA lithos (after Kirkwall)

I approve the move Duke. Looks great.

I still need to hang mine. Haven't had time to go get some decent nails that won't break my hallow walls to bits. I finally think I've got a good re-arrangement too, so I'm going to have six on the planned wall. I'll post some screens of the frames and what they look when I get the up on the wall.

Gosh Duke, you sure have a lot of framed things!

Nice to see you bought a whole bunch of stuff from Adam. That guy is pretty cool.

They're pretty cool...though I was thinking they were lithos, not prints for some reason. The only one that it really shows on is the Ghostbusters one...which is very pixelated. Also kind of annoyed that he signed and numbered them in pencil instead of pen.

And yeah, I'm a regular down at Aaron Bros. They have a 50% off sale going for custom frames on friday/saturday...but, of course, we wont have our Kirkwalls by then.
