Crash I didn't appreciate how big the Kirkwall Gate litho actually was, it looks positively massive! Is it covering half your sofa in the picture?

Kirkwall Gate is enormous.  Even with a modest frame, it's over a metre across.  It looks much more impressive in person than it does in pictures.

I'm debating about whether I should get Afterlife rematted.  Not a huge fan of the blue in this case but it might be the lighting.  I haven't seen them in person as I'm out of the country.

I think I'd wait until you see it in person: actually I rather like it, and that's coming from someone who generally prefers a single border of a more inconpicuous cream shade!  With that in mind, I'm also pleasantly surprised by how well the Omega frame works.

Yep its huge!  Here you can see it in comparison to my sofa a Blightlands Litho and a mini litho of Illium.

Nice! At least I wouldn't have to worry about decorating/wallpapering the new walls in my house if I bought that one. I like the Blightlands litho now that I can see it full size...must not..purchase

I'll second that it looks pretty cool, wouldn't have thought to use that type of pattern or red too!

The red border is actually suede, thats why its not an even color, its really cool.  Highly recomended.  Cant wait to show everyone my mass effect framed lithographs.  Its a big one, 1 signed and 2 small lithorgraphs in one frame!

Has anyone made their own frames? I'm asking because, what I've finally decided to do after deciding that I don't want my lithos to have a border, is to make borderless frames myself so I can have good quality ones. They'll be just as high quality as the archival frames, normal UV resistant plexiglass option, not the more expensive one, which makes no difference as they won't be in a sunny room. The backing is the same backing as is on those frames. Total cost including delivery and everything I need is about £12 per frame, that's roughly $17 I believe. One thing I wonder if anyone has some advice on is the best way to attach the front and back of the frame together that doesn't leave a massive visible metal peg on the front of the frame. There are no grooves in the back.

Funny you mention it ThrakF. I've been toying with the idea of building my own as well. I do have to ask where you're getting archival quality materials for that cheap though. UV protective acrylic is the expensive component.

If this takes off, maybe we should start up a separate thread with what we do and the best places to get materials. I'm sure there are people handier than I that could teach me some things about framing.

Well, to start with, the acid free backing is a lot less than you might think, the acrylic is expensive yes, but is cheaper from companies that buy bigger sheets, which is much cheaper than a lot of smaller ones, in bulk, and then cut them to size. It is still by far the most expensive component though. I have found it slightly cheaper due to a company offering a 10% price beat. Remember 2 things about why it's so cheap, 1, they're borderless frames, 2, it's not the really expensive 100% uv resistant stuff, it's the equivalent to the standard option, still very good quality, off hollywoodposterframes.com.

I've found another component i'll need since my last post, taking the total cost to about £15 per frame, $21 $22 ish I believe, but that's definitely everything.

Ah, see, I'm looking into some creative mats and things of that nature. Maybe that's what's driving my price up.

I'm working on building a frame from the ground up for a separate, custom project that would have cost $450 in any of the frame stores I got quotes from. Just picked up some 1"x3" maple at home depot for it that cost me, grand total, $27. Gonna price out components (acrylic, backing, mat) and then hit the workshop. Anticipating around $100 total cost. Sure beats $450. If the results are decent I'll post em here for other cheapskates to hopefully get ideas from.

You call $100 rather than $450 cheapskates?

Anyhow, you don't need to go that fancy for lithographs unless you want them looking like they're coming from the 1900s

And you don't need to buy lithos... but you do. Different strokes for different folks man. I want mine looking nice. I also want mine off the glass so that I'm sure the artwork isn't sticking, and that requires a mat (because I don't trust spacers). You can do yours using the bare minimum if you like. I'm doing mine nice.

And, as I said, the $100 instead of $450 is for a separate project I'm working on. Much bigger. 41" x 29". People who want to go through the effort of building a frame out of lumber and components I would absolutely label as cheapskates, regardless of the cost. It's a lot of work.

Yeah, I also want mine looking nice, but for me, nice is borderless. And if I get plexiglass, It doesn't matter if it's touching. I'm not doing it with the bare minimum, it's archival quality borderless frames. I am doing them nice.

The only reason I'm building them myself is because you can't buy archival quality borderless frames for anything short of ludicrous one off specially made prices. I'm building them so I can spend more and get good quality ones.

Anyway, not tryng to argue here, just pointing out a few things. Let's not get into a discussion about this.

The local Aaron bros went out of business...so now I have to drive 30 minutes if I want the same frame I've been using for ALL my BioWare lithos. Gonna have to figure out what to do...

Looks Great Alpha, the Blue really matches the planet and the glow around the Normandy. I used a Darker Blue Background for three of my mini's below which have similar colours. One being the Normandy mini of course. I almost went for a similar colour to yours but decided to go darker in the end.

So heres three mini Lithos in one Frame. The length of the Frame is 100cm which is the same size as the width of the Kirkwall Gate Lithograph!!

I agree completely. That Miranda/Normandy/TIM looks awesome. I wouldn't have thought to do them together like that, but the final product really pulls em together well. I'll have to consider something similar.

I wanted to have one piece that represents Mass Effect for me. So i went with one signed lithograph, (i was lucky to get Miranda before it sold out in 2 seconds, she was also my love interest in ME2), Normandy, (really love the ship and were we spend most of the time) and to tie it all together the Illusive man. (This piece really spoke to me, even though he is sitting down, he has the universe at his fingertips and might play a even bigger role in ME3.

So anyway, thats why i went with one piece frame.
