According to the What do we KNOW so far thread, and a video by David Gaider (which I missed), there is another race on Par Vollen called the Fex, unfortunatly this is all whe know so far about them (or at least all I know so far).

But I can make a few guesses.

1. Since the Qunari invaded the majorety of the Fex are probably folowing the Qun.

2. It is unknown if some of the Fex are still fighting the Qunari, all whe know of battles against the Qunari is that the Tevinter Imperium and Tal'Vashot fight them. But maybe the Fex joined the Tal'Vashot?

3. Since the Qunari only learn about the people they concured,it's possible they know a lot about the Fex. Maybe they have a simmelair relation the Drell and Hanar have in Mass Effect?

Personally, I think Fex that have joined the Qun, may serve as spys, scouts and assasins, seeing as how big the Qunari are.
Also according to David Gaider Qunari architecture is inspired by Mayan architecture, does that count for Par Vollen or all countrys inhibeted by the Qunari?
Otherwise those citys might have belonged to the Flex, if they even have citys that is.

Please speculate.

Wild guess:

Lizardmen! They should be mandatory for every fantasy game.

I would like to see something that isn't bipedal and roughly humanoid in appearance.

Or better yet, a reptilian race that isn't lizardmen. Hm, I'm vaguely remembering something from the old DA:O forums..

Ditto... I never like lizard-/snakemen in any setting, well except the drell... but thinking about the drell, I can't imagine that the new race will be a lizardrace again... oh, my dear... just imagine the ME-haters starting all over again: A lizard race, just like in ME 2? WAAAAHH - NO MORE MASSIFICATION!!!.... shiver...

Fex are ewoks. *nods* and we will find out that Magic is because of some microscopic demon bugs in the bloodstream.

sorry I ruined the plotline for DA3 for you.

Darn, and here I was, hoping for catgirls ... what, someone had to say it. Might as well be me.

Ahem.

That said, 'Fex rebellion' seem like the obvious plot hook to be set up by their presence and history.

This seems very likely.
Whatever the Fex are there might still be some settelments the Qunari can't reach.
It has been mentioned by Sten to Zevran in party banter, that the jungle of Par Vollen is a dangerous place to get lost.
I also think he mentioned that everybody needs to have an escort because the 'inhabetans' of the jungle are dangerous.

Which could  mean wild animals,or Fex.

You mean things in the vein of ...

:

Fex slaves/servants working as messengers (I'll send you a fex with the information.)

:

"Hawke."

"Fex."

:

How the Qunari invented Fed Ex

and so on?

OGB is the vergence?

Yep, notice how so many are convinced that OGB is going to be in next game even though it was a choice you could make (and many did not make it)?  That is because he was created by the microscopid demon bugs so will exsist outside of what you the player did or not.

Give anything the ability to speak and they insantly become more human regardless of their appearance.

*throws in a guess that they are the reason that most Qunari have horns and that it is considered good not to have them, and it would explain why there were Ogres prior to Qunari in Thedas*

I hate cross-breeding in fantasy.

*walks away mumbling discontentedly*

Forget lizardmen... I want the xvarts to make a comeback... yes, I miss those feisty little blue dudes. Okay, so maybe they don't really fit in the DA universe, but a girl can dream can't she. :P

I don't know what xvarts are, but having blue skin (or other unique colors) could already help a long way in making a race unique.

Just look at the Asari! They are basicly humans with blue skin and tentacles instead of hair.

As far as I know there are no facts, only speculation.

Well it is a fact that Mr. Gaider confirmed that the Fex where a race on Par Vollen.

Did Gaider state that they were a race, or that they are a race? Kinda an important difference.

According to the Dragon Age wiki and Elven Lore, Par Vollen is also the country where humans first arrived on Thedas.

Could it be that Humans arrived first, then the Fex and then the Qunari. Or did the Fex just stayed on Par Vollen when the Humans arrived?

Or are the Fex a race as acient as the Elves?
