According to the Dragon Age wiki and Elven Lore, Par Vollen is also the country where humans first arrived on Thedas.

Could it be that Humans arrived first, then the Fex and then the Qunari. Or did the Fex just stayed on Par Vollen when the Humans arrived?

Or are the Fex a race as acient as the Elves?

My guess is that the Fex came before the Humans, but never left Par Vollen.

How about a new branch of Elves, For example all elves that had one parent Hume, ended up being human themselves, so how about we have human... elves. Does that make sense? Humans with Pointy ears and long life spans but also tall and having the same structure as a hume?

Wild guess:

Lizardmen! They should be mandatory for every fantasy game.

Though that wouldn't suprise me, I am hoping for something diffrent.

I was hoping for Aztec lizardmen myself =/

i'd like to see a draconian like race (minus the wings if they're too much trouble to implement):

Maybe a tribal, tree dwelling, cat-like people who still use old magic or a magic unknown to the current peoples of Thedas. They could be elusive like many of the South American tribal people, dwelling deep into the uncharted jungle. That would be interesting.

Even though I think the Fex might be beasts (which is probably the reason they stay in Par Vollen) I doubt they will be draconic.

Lets try to keep it Dragon Age related, or the thread will be shut down by the moderators.

well, david gaider once said there was a dragon like race, i guess he was talking about the qunari.
but even so, i'd love to see a dragon/reptillian/human hybrid race in DA's lore

For some reason or another, I imagine the Fex as some sort of...bugpeople. Why, I'm not exactly sure, but there it is.

I don't think it has been done before, but it sounds interesting.

Well, I would like to think the fex was something along the lines of the viera. Or atleast be a combination of half human, half something else.

As my brain is filled with cold medicine, another thought just occurred to me.  Toad people.  A tribal, semi-sentient toad people would be cool.  Maybe if you lick them you can enter the fade or just have a really good time.;)

Haha, Ok enough speculation of what they might be.
How about there relegion? And by who are they ruled?

A king and/or queen, or are they ruled by a group of people?

I keep going back to South America on the religion part, maybe without the virgin sacrifices. I think if this is a primitive, tribal society that their gods would reflect this. So they would worship gods for ward off or appease evil/pestilence, to bring plenty of food, ensure fertility, strengthen the hunter, secure the hearth. etc. I imagine it would be more druidic in nature as they live in a rather hostile environment and the environment itself would be their most potent enemy.

just an idea:
i can see my idea of golems race having a giant crystal core at the center of their city, worshiping it.
this crystal could be a simbiot to these creatures, so all their culture (looks, architecture, commerce, etc) would be related to this crystal.

This was my thought as well, some might have gone to the Qun.
But most stay in scatterd tribes all over Thedas, still with their old beliefs and traditions.

I also think they are the only ones that know all of Par Vollen.
They lay of the lands, which herbs and fruits are poisenus and which are not, etc.

Par Vollen is a chain of islands, yes? I have to say then that the Fex are aquatic creatures who are qunari outcasts obsessed with vanity!

Fex: "I bet there's more to life than being really really ridiculously good looking; I'm giving up the Qun to find out what."

Qunari: "I can't believe my son turned out to be a mermaid..."

Fex: "It's mer-MAN pop! Mer-MAN!"

This is also a very cool idea.  I keep thinking of Justice and how he says that Lyrium "sings".  Perhaps this is how these peolpe communicate or worship.  The crystal would resonate their thoughts, feelings, etc.  This would create a simbiotic link between them and the central crystal.  Gosh, they could be true ancestors of the dwarves.  I seem to recall that the dwarves were cursed and given flesh.  I could be mistaken.  Cold medecine is cloggin my mind right now.

i can imagine their city being similar to orzammar but with a crystal theme instead of just rock.
and as a community, i think they would be similar to the city elves and dwarves, tough and rough but very close like a family.
