Forget lizardmen... I want the xvarts to make a comeback... yes, I miss those feisty little blue dudes. Okay, so maybe they don't really fit in the DA universe, but a girl can dream can't she.
Just look at the Asari! They are basicly humans with blue skin and tentacles instead of hair.
Xvarts were a race from the D&D universe that look remarkably similar to the Andorians from Star Trek sans the feelers. They were in the original Baldur's Gate game and were annoying as heck... and yet hilarious. *nostalgic*
I'm still going to continue to hope the Fex are Xvart-like... it would be so lulzy!

@nightcobra,
acording to David Gaiders Q&A PAX videos, Fex rarely go away from Par Vollen.
So maybe they aren't golems, but could your theory make sense for something more humanoid?
i said they're an organic sentient species, but with a outer crystal shell or skin making them golem-like (not actually golems:whistle:)
and their society would be restricted to their environment due to their symbiotic nature with the core crystal.
So you're thinking something along the lines of Dalleks (well, without the whole "Exterminate!" thing)

Yes, about the size of a kobold or goblin, they are barbarian like and live in hilly areas. They are stronger and more organized than kobolds or goblins whom they usually bully into submission. They are also cowards that attack sleeping or resting opponents.

here's a few more info about the idea:
i can see my idea of golems race having a giant crystal core at the center of their city, worshiping it.
this crystal could be a simbiot to these creatures, so all their culture (looks, architecture, commerce, etc) would be related to this crystal.
i can imagine their city being similar to orzammar but with a crystal theme instead of just rock.
and as a community, i think they would be similar to the city elves and dwarves, tough and rough but very close like a family.
It would also be very insular and quite possibly very hidden. If proximity to the crystal is necessary, then they would not wander far from the "hearth stone". It would quite literally be the center of their universe. I can imagine isolated communities, perhaps interlinked by roads that had crystaline veins. This would allow them to stay connected and possibly communicate with other "tribes"
about their look, more or less like this but with some organic tissue still showing

Well, I don't know if Qunari know fear, but they certainly lay of those guys.nightcobra8928 wrote...

Also I think the Fex might be two things, they could be nightcobras crystal humanoids.
Or, they are something like goblins or imps, which look somewhat like monkeys.
Why look like monkeys? I don't know... It just seems to fit they are nearly unoticed by the Qunari, and they know the jungle better then everyone.

Hmm, some form of parasitic/symbiotic sentience that manages to go unnoticed by taking refuge in host bodies?

**throw this out there: maybe they're why some Qunari don't have horns.
*Even I doubt this, the Qunari don't seem like a race that would reproduce outside they're own*

Qunari is a term used for everyone who folows the Qun. So among the Qunari are elves and humans as well, maybe even surface dwarves and Fex.Inside_Joke wrote...
The Fex are mostly likely very human in appearance. I mean, they're probably very tribal, but I can't see them being too bestial. Even the Qunari with their horn-upgrade still look rather human (okay, they look like raging Minotaurs, but still).

I didn't get it at first either, but a few months ago there was a Qunari thread where Mary Kirby and David Gaider where very active on. So I found out some new stuff as well.Inside_Joke wrote...

hope that in the game we wil hear about more races that maybe can be introduced into DA3 or 4.

How about a new branch of Elves, For example all elves that had one parent Hume, ended up being human themselves, so how about we have human... elves. Does that make sense? Humans with Pointy ears and long life spans but also tall and having the same structure as a hume?
no more fcking elves please. Im tired of typical fantasy tolkien rip offs that plague all of western fantasy games, fiction
