What I wonder about is whether or not Viccie is going to feel alright among all those surface elves. I can replace her, if need be, but I'd rather not, and I'd like to know before I'm a couple dozen hours into the game (from BG1 to ToB).

In BG1 Viconia and Kivan don't exactly get on, whether they leave the party to fight I'm not sure. They have respond to death specifics too, Viconia's is "It is sad that Kivan and I never understood each other". Kivan's is "May Viconia's soul rot in hell!".
So I'm guessing the people that modded the Kivan mod probably wrote in some vicious banter between Viconia and Kivan, whether or not they attack each other is another thing.
Strange how NPCs don't react to party deaths in BG2.
Edit: Just checked the readme and apparently there is little interaction between Kivan and Viconia. There's lots of banter with Cernd and Aerie though, looks like you may need either of them to bring back Daheriana. Also, have you ever played Viconia as a Cleric/Thief? Very fun.

I've had a few CTs in my groups before, but none of them got above 3M XP for various reasons.

Then of course, there's the one bar in Baldur's Gate (same city sector as the flaming fist HQ) which has a paladin who walks up and detects evil on your party...if anyone IS evil, he attacks, and he never gets a red circle, so killing him inflicts the maximal innocent killing penalty (as well as hostiling everyone in the vicinity).

Only major obstacles in BG1 with Viconia are the standard ones for reputation and evil characters, plus the -2 that Viconia applies to the party for being part of it.

Is the paladin at a low enough level that you can use Entangle or Web on him and get the hades out of there without encuring the severe Reputation penalty? Or if you have a Tank party can you just pretend he's Nubber and keep knocking him unconscious?

Or just...not going into that bar. I don't believe there are any important quest matters to deal with there, certainly nothing that is plot-crucial.
Quite right. I believe you are even warned about it, possibly in the Elfsong.

Cool. All's set and ready to go (though I still don't know why I can't install 1PP Thieves Galore...)
You have to install Female Dwarves before it, at least that's what fixed my issue.

The only conflict is with Keldorn and Valygar, they're the one's who initiate the fights as well, not Viconia, although she does goad them into fighting.
I think one of the banter mods allows the main char to step in and resolve these conflicts before things get ugly.
I currently have Viconia + Valygar and Minsc + Edwin in my party and it all worked out great.
