Alistair Bug at Ostagar.

So, I can't seem to find any way around this little glitch.
After meeting Alistair for the first time, he will not join my party and follow me back to duncan. I've gone back to earlier saves, restarted the game etc.
Nothing works.

I tried to just go along with it, thinking the game might catch up to whatever was wrong and fix it, but when I got to the Wilds, it got even stranger. He was not there, in the party, or visibly as a model.. Yet he was still talking in cutscenes.

Any ideas on how I could fix this? I hope to work on it when I get home. I'll try to update this if I do find an answer.

I've made it through the end of Ostagar, and it still will not put Alistair in my party. Even after many conversations, zone changes, updates to party status(the joining). Apparently this character will be un-playable, because I don't want Alistair missing from my whole game. And it's not really a big plus for the immersion, when there is an invisible person speaking all the time. Everyone just looks at the ground when they should be looking to Alistair.



I went through my whole first play without any bugs like this, so I'm pretty sad :(

Again.. I know I've received no replies, but if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know.

maybe some kind of Mage Origins issue?



Since you posted on mine I figured I'd post on yours. See if we can get some more info.

I have finally found the solution. Anyone having this issue, go to:

Follow the steps posted by ChandlerL, and see if it works for you. It has solved my problem :)

I was having the same problem, and this fix did work for me. However, I was only able to get Alistair to join me upon first meeting him after arriving at Ostagar. He would not appear if I loaded a save after completing the joining quest (i.e. he wouldn't join after speaking to Loghain). Oh well, it beats starting again. Thanks.



Another small glitch which occurred when arriving in Ostagar was that, although my character is male, everyone was addressing me as "My Lady", including the King. But hey, now that Alistair is back, maybe new romance options? :)

The glitches you experienced are tied to the toolset... you may want to consider completely restarting as toolset bugs can be made permanent in a save game (and you're still fairly close to the beginning)

lol you all hack your game then post bugs about the game itself, the while not mentioning you fiddling with the toolset on the original campaign.files and/or character save files. lol

After installing a 'few' mods and before I installed the toolset, I encountered this problem when all my party is not recruitable on a new save and My followers still follow me at party camp on my old one. What's interesting is that at the landsmeet when I'm suppose to recruit Loghain, He doesn't join the party and Alistair doesn't leave either.



I did follow crimson's advice on deleting all content on the override but didnt work



Then I tried to follow the instruction from this site

but the problem is that I dont even know how to open the toolset database let alone run it since I just started to work on the toolset in an attempt to fix this.
