Just wondering if anyone knows whether or not the handy dandy codexes will be coming back in Dragon Age 2? I really enjoyed all the extra info I got from reading them.

I'd like a function to sort the codex by the most recently added/updated entries. That would be helpful.

I hope we still get XP for reading them - I like getting XP for more than just hacking and slashing, it makes the game feel deeper and gives it that old RPG feel.

Gaider made a reference to writing codices during one of the PAX interviews, so I think it's a pretty safe bet they'll be back.

It was a popular feature, so I don't see why they wouldn't put it in.

The Codex has kinda become a BioWare tradition, so I doubt they'll drop it now.

I would like it if the entries had titles rather than just numbers so we could find them more easily.

I would also like it if the word codex were properly pluralised as codices.

I would like it if the codex entries wrote themselvs.

To be fair, the fact codexes are labeled by numbers mean I never bother reading them. And I absolutely would if I could navigate them with any kind of purpose other than random guesses.

ME2 codex owns Dragon Age. Not only are they organized properly but a voice reads a description for each.

Only the ones that are holdovers from ME1, I thought?  Though I did not check every one.

But in general yes.  I read the Mass Effect codexes because I understand how they're organized.

Dragon Age codex: Pick a card, any card, your guess is as good as mine! Step up and press your luck!

Screw the voice, I'd rather have superior organization and interface.

I don't think I listened to a single ME codex as it was being read to me all the way through. I read much faster than that, and it was just a pretty plain voice reading what was right there in front of me.

I like listening to dialogue, because there is acting and such going on...but that's different than having someone read something to me for no reason.

Have you ever tried listening to an audiobook while reading the same book? You'll quickly either turn the audiobook off or ditch the book and just listen.

Yeah, its not the voiceover that makes the Mass Effect codex better, its the fact the entries have titles that you can, you know, see.

You can have a child and name them "Codex Entries Gaider", forcing them to write and give you cookies.

I'll add my support for more organization, but I am definitely against voiced entries. Not only would that theoretically cut down on the potential amount of writing, but some entries would be... awkward... if read by a flat voice.

Ex. imagine someone reading the "dwarven poetry" codex entry from DA:O to you and it not sounding cheesy.

That codex voice-over adds nothing to the game, and is prohibitively expensive.

I hope they never do that again.

Can't you just get an intern to type up all your hand-written lore notes?
