If they are I hope I can scrool down and see whats new, rather than being forced to remember what I have and have not read.

It's only annoying on second playthroughs however.

You mean new entries aren't highlighted on consoles?

They are, but because of how scrolling down works they might as well not be.
It's hard to describe, but it's just as annoying as being forced into the hard drive memory to delete save files.

Let's say this is the codex.(The new entries are highlighted in blue.)
# 1 Aravels - On Dalish landships
# 2 The Dales
# 3 The Long Walk
# 4 Uthenera
# 5 Vallaslin: Blood Writing
# 6 The History of the Drydens
----------------------------   (This line represents the bottom of the screen which cuts off the rest of the entries.Try to get this line down at the bottom of your browser window and then go back to the beginning of the codex list and hold in highlight and scroll down.)

# 7 The History of Soldier's Peak: Chapter 1
# 8 The History of Soldier's Peak: Chapter 2
# 9 The History of Soldier's Peak: Chapter 3
# 10 The History of Soldier's Peak: Chapter 4

You're not able to see if the entries past the line are highlighted or not because the highlighter-cursor blends in with it.Now imagine that if you stop highlighting, that all the text turns white and there's no more blue text. That's what it's like on the console.I hope they fixed it in DA2.

To be fair, the fact codexes are labeled by numbers mean I never bother reading them. And I absolutely would if I could navigate them with any kind of purpose other than random guesses.

I don't think they're numbered on xbox 360 version.I'm not sure .I haven't played DA:O lately.

I want the codex dramatized by varric

I wouldn't mind Knight-Commander Gregoir's voice or Duncan.I'd say Sandal, but then everything would be "Enchantment!".

ME2 codex owns Dragon Age. Not only are they organized properly but a voice reads a description for each.

improved organization and interface =  YES

voicing everything = MEH

yes maybe use the right thumbstick for the consoles with a slider to scan over the Codex, and see which ones are new then selecting with the direction pad? hated hunting for Codex entries which ones were read or not.

I would like it if the entries had titles rather than just numbers so we could find them more easily.

I would also like it if the word codex were properly pluralised as codices.

I would like it if the codex entries wrote themselvs.

And sent me cookies.

The codex entries could stand to be a little more organized. The page icons are too small in size to have titles on them, however. Perhaps a sub-category system (in the original game, they were placed according to the main category they fell under- characters, places, beasts, history, etc.) would make things a bit easier for the player to locate the content?

how about some concept art within a few of the codex pages?

like, when you're reading about kirkwall you could press a button (let's say triangle for example) and it would show you concept arts of kirkwall, or when you're reading about a race you get to see their concept art.

little details like this can go a long way into making an exciting codex.

I truly loved he codexes, they added some very nice depth to the story and enhanced the story greatly be providing some great backstory.

If they would do no more than add a "go to most recent entry" button, it would be the only thing I would ever ask for in life, ever.

Lol, that's funny.  Seriously,  besides the story and the intense combat, the codex entries are what make Dragon Age so enjoyable to me.  I truly  take pleasure in their lyrical passages, the philosophical viewpoints, the additional information, explaining the world of Thedas and the complex morals that bathe some of the entries recorded within its core.

I would definitely miss that.  So, I do hope *they are* a part of DA II.

Edit:  the entries within the codex.

I think you meant "Cookicies."

We'll likely move to an alphabet sort for them, rather than #s. Easier for everyone.

Any chance of the codex being voiced?

Yeah, I still think sort by "most recent" would be by far the most useful feature, as far as the codex goes. Like how you can sort the inventory by newest items. (on the PC version anyway)

Too bad, they had it all recorded by Gilbert Godfrey but alas the voiced codex had to be cut.

I don't think I listened to a single ME codex as it was being read to me all the way through. I read much faster than that, and it was just a pretty plain voice reading what was right there in front of me.

I like listening to dialogue, because there is acting and such going on...but that's different than having someone read something to me for no reason.

Have you ever tried listening to an audiobook while reading the same book? You'll quickly either turn the audiobook off or ditch the book and just listen.

I have to disagree.  I do enough reading in college, so i would rather have the text read to me via a narrator.  I just want to sit back and enjoy the game, not read dozens of paragraphs.

That actually gives me more incentive to read them. I usually give up halfway through the search.
