Since I can't play my usual smoothtalking halfling rogue, I will go with a douchy mage. No more explanation is required.

My city elf is basically going to be the impossibly wiser than thou character pitying the world for what it has become pitying the dwarves for their place of a never ending war and pitying the humans for their prejudice. Becoming the character who will smile no matter what happens because its the only thing that keeps him going (a contradiction in him :P) but if he had to choose to save his friend or village he'd choose both, cause he's selfish like that and see's no wrong in trying to save everyone, no matter how impossible it is. He'd be the kinda guy who'd get himself killed just for saving the guy who wronged him no matter what race, he'd be they guy who, whilst everyone thinks its impossible he'd do it with ease!

basically the guy who makes people turn away in anger but whilst they have their backs to him they cant help but smile...and have that little feeling at the bottom of pandoras box.

At first, I was going to modify a character I created for a Tolkein based world. He is an elf that is rather dark but from past nobility.

However, I haven't been able to get deep into a CRPG for a long time, and since I don't know much about the Dragon Age world yet (am about to read the books), I decided to go with a new approach for me.

I am going to play myself...or at least what I may be like in the world. I know a lot of people do that with RPGs, as my experience with P&P RPGs has shown, but I never really have. Therefore, what may normally be noobish is actually a new experience for me and one that seems like it will be a fun one giving me a real "what would I do" experience, allowing myself to really pretend "I" am in this world.

After my first run through, I'll come up with a true character with a pre-written concept and story.

Im up in the air between the Dwarf and the human. I always play as a tank, and make my moral choices based on in game events, like if i was betrayed or lost a loved one, i would turn my back on society and play by my rules. which is usually the quickest way to power and wealth. sometimes i like to play as a good guy turned evil. Thats always fun

My first character will be a human warrior -> Two-handed (good damage + good tank).

My human mage Kyristele (unconventional spelling ftw!) dislikes the way the Chantry basically bosses around the mages and then tries to tell them it's "for their own good". I usually try to play a "Neutral Good" character, but sometimes they end up becoming "True Neutral".  What usually happens is that I stay out of someone's business until they start kicking puppies.

And sometimes it means choosing the lesser evil, whatever that means.

I also picture her as being very curious and willing to learn, possibly studying forbidden magic but not going so far as making contracts with demons--that's just insane. :P She could end up with either Morrigan or Alistair, it depends on how many nefarious deeds Morrigan makes her do.

She's also very protective of her party--hurt anyone she's fighting with and you better pray that your magical resistance is top notch. She'll likely spend her time chatting with everyone because everyone has something to contribute in this war. Yeah, she's basically just a nice person. There's a possibility that she might not last very long. :P

For all my characters I've been trying to thresh out basic personalities. My first character is going to be my female human noble, Roisin. She has lived and reveled in living a privileged life as a haughty young noblewoman, and is largely ignorant of the plights of any lower castes. Whether she'll make an attempt to learn empathy or whether she'll end up forming a party that accomodates and coddles her narrow worldview remains to be seen.

My Mage fights for justice and the downtrodden! No maiden will go unsaved! No babies will be eaten! No minorities harrassed! Death to those who would bring harm to others for petty reasons!

Unless it grants him phenomenal cosmic power and nobody else is looking. What babies you eat behind closed doors is your own business.
