So which game do you think has the better romance story???

For me i think Dragon age did a better job in character development. You actually get to know your romance partner better throughout the game.

However, i think the characters in Mass effect did a better job expressing their emotions to my main character. The dialogues on board the Normandy is just excellent. You can tell if your partner is either nervous, desperate, eager or afraid, and bioware did a good job making it realistic and amusing.

As for the "steamy bits"...well there really isn't a contest here. Mass effect wins hands down =P

ME1's "steamy bits" for a female Shepard were about the same as for a female warden in DA.



But for actual romance? DA won hands down, actually I thought there was far better NPC interaction in DA overall than both ME games combined. Not that I don't love ME, but it was lacking a little bit in the actual relationships.



Or I might just be jaded since I wasn't impressed with the romance options in ME2 for the female Shepard.

I agree. I think Kaiden was ME1's Alistair. If you played as a femshep it seems a little lacking. But rumors about Kaidan/Ashley/Liara influence in ME3 worth the cliffhanger.

I played ME on my xbox and before getting DAO for the pc played it there as well. There is no xcontest. DAO had beeter characters, better character in teraction and better character development. I never felt bad leading ME LI's on and then dumping pone for the other. I always feel awful when I do that in DAO and when Alistair dumped my mage the first time I ever played it through I was devestated then when my City elf US and I saw Zevs face I was destroyed and had to reload and let Ali do the Archdemon. After about a year I got bored with ME I am still going strong with DAO. And yes it is the love story that brings me back every time. I wish more games had such character development and interaction. I have yet to play the same game twice and it is always the romance that drives me to play a new character.

I liked Kaidan in ME1 initially, a fact my guy friend couldn't understand. Couldn't stand Ashley, and he thought she was great.

But I don't think I could ever do any of the  ME1 relationships again if I ever played through it again ( I find it more than a bit clunky these days) after having the awesomeness of the relationships in DA:O. And not just the romances. By the end of my first playthrough, I really did feel like my Warden's traveling companions had become more than just allies, they had become friends. Even if I did want to kill some of them a few times, but heck I'm that way with my RL friends too.

Personally I love Kaidan the most. Alistair is way too whiny, and unless you're a human noble he dumps you. I mean, lame. Zevran is alright, if short and a little annoying at times. Kaidan is definitely the best looking and has the best personality. (and oh, that cute little pompadour!) As far as character building, it's hard to say. ME1 was great, I wanted to cry during ME2 because I couldn't be with Kaidan anymore, and because the sex scenes sucked in comparison. You see absolutely nothing. (I tried out romances with all the male characters). Dragon Age has pretty good character progression, but the frustration of not being able to get it on with Sten always bugged me. I'd way prefer to have a steamy romance with him. He could cryptically tell me how his love for me is like his sword, or something.

I am a male.  i am interested in the female characters mainly.   and i think Sten is gay anyway.....

I shall take pity upon thee.  Morrigan is straight and Leliana is bi.  As a male, you can sleep with both of them, and yes there are cutscenes.  Just keeping edging that approval up.

@ Op. DA is infinately better than both ME1 and 2 in this regard. Infinately. Incomparable actually.

The romances in ME1 were well done I thought, but in ME2 they really felt gutted and added on.



In Dragon Age they are much better done, with more content, and you actually feel very connected to your PCs LI.

Do they let you control the characters during the sex scene ???  then it could be like you are really there ?
