Guess I'm more in it for the story and not for the challenge of every fight being a losing battle snatching victory from the jaws of defeat and all that.

LOL, you all know you will never agree

The players that play on hardcore will always think themselves superior to others even though its just a game with a patern, figure out the patern and you win on any setting, its not rocket science.

I use to play these games at highest level till I grew up and came to the realization why I actually like RPGs, the story. Combat is just a distraction to slow down the story, thats all. These games (well Biowares anyways) are all about the story and the path you travel to form that story.

So no sence argueing over who is the better player and all that. Its a game people, enjoy it and move on. The better player is the one that gets the most enjoyment out of it! There is no compitition to be won.

Given that you don't take friendly fire on easy, nothing should be hard. Personally I like pausing since it worked in Baldurs Gate 2, so there ya go. Still with the game was scaled for more party members.

Hm .. might want to rethink that as I can trap my party in my own glyph spell explosion!  I think it was Glyph of Paralysis and Glyph of Repusion on top of each other ... try it one time.  Amusing.

And Easy mode is NOT EASY!  I dunno why people say that as you can still die if you don't pay attention.

I play my games on easy the first time when I don't know what to expect.  And before you say "oh you suck if you die alot, L2P" it's far from the truth.  Ambushes and waves of hurlocks (and bretheren) have decimated my party even with careful tactics and pausing.

Yeah I found out the thing with the wards overlapping the hard way--but there are a lot of mage spells that *affect* your party without eh *friendly firing* them (blizzard/cone of cold/etc)--> no damage, but still frozen. When you're on easy.

That's why I kept my mage on the front line so I could spam cone of cold without hitting my tank. xD ...sometimes that worked out.

Personally, unlike most people, I've always enjoyed the pausing/tactics/party management in these games. It's one of the reasons why I love these games so much, on top of the choices you get within the storyline and so forth. In Baldur's Gate in particular, I actually found the combat to be one of the most entertaining aspects, honestly. Dragon Age is quickly gaining my interest as well now, although I wish I had just a little bit large of a group to use... While 4 works overall, I just rather miss having the 6 from Baldur's Gate.

I enjoy a challenge..so Normal for me is fine..it provides enough of a challenge without me having to resort to cheap tricks and outsmarting the AI to win..

It all depends on what you want out of a game. The good thing is that this is designed to appeal to different tastes, and none of them are wrong.

I personally don't like having to stop and do strategy. I like having my team do their own thing while I worry about my own personal stuff. And so I play on easy because when I don't, I have to micromanage four characters, and that's not what I really enjoy doing in a game.

But that doesn't mean I'm right and others are wrong. It doesn't hurt me in the slightest to have someone else play the game differently.

I just wish there was some more ranged group CC (like mind blast but not centered around the caster).... all my strategies in BG involved using holders like entangle and spiderweb and then bombing AOEs, which doesn't translate quite the same to DA.

So I do earthquake and blizzard and then all the lightning/fire bombing. Does anyone else have a problem with moving the edges of the camera far enough into the other room to plant your AOE spells? Maybe that's where a stealthed rogue comes in handy, but I have a hard time getting the camera placement right without running my character too close.

So I find myself switching to easy occasionally just so when I dump my AOEs it doesn't matter if the enemies have already rushed me and my party is standing in the middle of it. xD
