Is anyone else practically frothing at the mouth in anticipation of ME3?

Admittedly, this is a rather 'noobish' thread to start, but I just want to get a sense of how others are 'dealing' with the wait until ME3 is officially announced.

There are only so many times one can play through ME2 to get one's 'fix'! :P The ongoing DLC helps, and it is certainly breaking up the wait until something is revealed, but yeah...

Disclaimer: This is by no means an indication/admission that I don't have a life or other things to look forward to - the Mass Effect video game series is simply one of my major time sinks outside of work/family.

all I know from IGN is this...

Mass Effect 3 will hopefully deliver a thrilling and conclusive (but not too final ... we wouldn't want the adventure to end at just three games) capper on the Mass Effect storyline. Expect more explosive gunplay, more plot twists, more memorable characters, more heart-wrenching choices, more scenic vistas of beauty and majesty ... and maybe even some more sexy dancing!

NOTE: This game has been confirmed as a title in the works but it has not been announced for any specific game machine. Please check back for official info.
Genre: RPG
Publisher: Electronic Arts
Developer: BioWare
Release Date: TBA 2011
Also on: PC
PEGI: RP

To Be Announced 2011.... I'm figuring it will be a "later" rather than "sooner" release.

Sometimes. At other times I'm really pessimistic about it. It's gonna suck.

Why's it going to suck?

I'd like it to come soon as well...

Limited development time, limited budget, limited disc space.

I don't believe for instant that the story is going to branch out in any meaningful ways. I don't care what the devs say about having more freedom to write the story this time. What constrains the story and your effects on it isn't the complexity, it is the limited time and disc space the developers have to work with. That isn't going to be any different for ME3 than it was for ME2.

Sometimes I'm really sad that characters I really like were "wasted" in a game in which they weren't even important to the plot. :crying:

ME2 was a pleasant surprise for me. I thought it was going to be horrible, especially with the new game mechcanics and arbitrary opening -- but it ended up being extremely fun, especially the finale.

I'm hoping ME3 will provide more of the same. Of course I will be resistant at first, but Bioware will manage to surprise me again. :D

I'm looking forward to the combat. ME2 was such a huge leap over ME1, and now they have a great base to build on.

I want a remake of ME1 that has ME2's combat.

Tali, Garrus, Zaeed, Legion, and Mordin. Mainly Tali and Garrus. Legion can be written into ME3 very easily. Cerberus can send him back to you after they interview him, or rewirte him, or if Legion died on the suicide mission then we can discover he hid a backup of himself on the Normandy. Anything. It doesn't have to be GOOD writing, but Bioware could do it.

Tali being killable is unfortunate because it seems the plotlines concerning her people and the geth will finally come to a conclusion in ME. Tali should rightly be at the center of that but because she can die... she won't be. I'm mean I'm sure if she is alive that she'll play a role, but it will be a small role.

It will be like Wrex vs Wreave.

Perhaps there'll be a canon amount of squadmates who died in the suicide mission (likely none), and who died in ME2 won't actually affect the game at all.

So do I (though the skills part would require some heavy tweaking.) Scaling the Tower with ME2 cover would be awesome.

Maybe the PS3 people will get it, lucky sods.

I am waiting for it.

Hopefully it is what we are looking forward to, I just hope that we dont have to lose alot of squadmates to cameos and write offs.

I got them all out alive, and I want them to be in part three. Well outside of Kasumi and Zaeed I guess since they are DLC, which is a shame since I really like those two,

Those characters were technically supposed to be in the game but ended up as DLC. There was a whole bunch of rage about the fact Kasumi's voice clips could be found in the original game files yet you had to pay for the DLC to use Kasumi. I don't think Bioware count them as outside Canon add on characters i think they were written into the game from the start but ended up as DLC for one reason or another at a guess i'd say time constraints in hitting production deadlines.

This. Maybe while they're at it they would fix the import bugs.

I don't think that matters. After all, Liara becoming the Shadow Broker is also DLC, but I'm pretty sure that's too big a change to leave up to chance for the sequel.

The way I see it, any change that could happen with or without Shepard's intervention will be in ME3. Liara could potentially find and defeat the SB on her own... Kasumi and Zaeed could join up on their own (or Shep could run into them both) etc.

No intention to offend, but that's the worst idea ever.

How lazy would Bioware have to be to just IGNORE the outcome of your suicide mission. For a series that boasts how important the choices you've made up to this point are and will be it would simply be a cop out to just decide..."Well that's too much work! Let's just keep squadmates, X, Y, and Z alive!"

Noooot really, yet, but I don't mind news all the same. There will be a steady stream of games to tide me over till ME 3.

WH 40k : Space Marine....... Now with 9,999,999,999% more Ork headstompin'!

But since import bugs have been mentioned, has anyone from Bioware come up to say these are indeed bugs? or is that just how things will play out no matter what you do? It'd be disappointing, especially with all the 'paragon' choices leading to good outcomes, for all I could tell. It just seems to be the Citadel ones, and one other side-mission that seems to go on rails. Even Helena wossname shows up at Omega.

edit : Maybe one of the dire consequences in ME 3 is if some of your squad die, you have a dimished squad pool  in ME 3. That would be a kick up the quads for those who let everyone else die, and a pat on the back for bringing everyone home alive.

It's not something I'd necessarily commend, just an idea that I had. Bioware probably won't do it, though.

They better not or I will be furious. After crafting such a great universe (even if not scientifically sound) it would be a waste to get lazy on their last installment of this story...

I honestly don't understand some of the pessimism on these forums.

They take the devs holding ONE character back (Virmire Survivor) in order to give them a big role in ME 3 and everybody hits the panic button and retreats to their bomb shelter.

There are a lot of threads which easily explain how the SM survivors can make their way back to ME 3. Lack of resources? Guys the Mass Effect brand is huge. And it's backed up by EA which at this point has more money than God.

Relax. ME 3 will be great.
