A shame many old forumites didn't make it here and still most PW players

As always most of the folks that are over at some of the PW's never show up here. I know...the game has moved so far from what it was intitially...much thanks to theese PW's...still...I mean...how can you not be interested in what is happening with the game and in the community? ...I don't get it....never will...

Life happens, players move on, life takes player's time away from game, and some simply find another game that interest them more, this is unfortunately the truth, however undesirable it may be. Some just log off and get a life.
There are presently 812 Player online, in Server Vault Modules, not including local vaults, which is a very sad comparison I'm sure (though I'm guessing) to what NWN use to be at it's height / climax.
The climax is over, NWN is winding down, and players are moving on, we can cry, but it won't do any good, unfortunately.

POET: What a voice! Perhaps we should change places! Only the Romans can afford ushers with a voice like that. Did you have it trained?
USHER: I was an actor, sir.
POET: Oh, that explains it. Resting, are you?
USHER: No sir, I've given it up. Everyone's an actor in Rome. There just isn't enough work to go around.
POET(nodding): And what there is goes to friends and relatives. It's the same everywhere.
USHER: The theater isn't what it was.
POET:(leaning close): No, and I'll tell you something else: It never was what it was.

The fact is a lot of people were annoyed by the closure of the old forums at one weeks notice. When you've been 8 yrs in one forum it's hard to change at the drop of a hat, and let's face it, this place is hardly as good as the old forum. I think a lot of the old crowd took one look at this forum and decided not to bother.

I changed my name. Look at my sig and see if you recognize it. On the old forums I was closing in on (hard to believe) 30,000 posts. I don't feel I've left anything behind or thrown anything away. It's all still there under my other name.
I agree that a lot of people were annoyed at the abrupt closure of the old forums, but as far as this one being as good as the old one... the forum is what the people make of it.

Because, in old forums you was restricted to your game account. And some of us couldn't register our nickname as it was used already. My game account is pvp-master (stupid one, isn't it?) so that was the name I used on old forums.Raffles wrote...

Interesting Share there.
And on a foot note to the above post: People are resistant to change, even defiant in some cases.

I doubt it's a matter of continued interest for the most part. Once NWN is in one's blood, it's a permanent infusion.SuperFly_2000 wrote...
It seems that not all made the transition to theese new forums. I am thinking about some that at least seemed active on the old Bioware forums just before the move. Anyone know the reasons?

However, I think it's a phenomenon similar to when your long-time employer decides to pull up stakes and move the business to a new locale, like the polar ice cap, for instance. Some folks may decide to use the opportunity to refuse the relocation and explore other possibilities at home. Others just go with the flow and migrate with the rest of the staff. Neither action can be condemned and either presents its own benefits.
I DO know that some have used the timing to address some overdue issues in their real-life and in other related pursuits that they were hard-pressed to juggle successfully with all the forum time. So in those specific cases, I wouldn't write them off just yet. It's only been a few months and as the winter approaches, outdoor activities dwindle down while the likelihood of more computer time increases.
Still, it was not a very "smooth" transition, IMO, with all the loose ends and unknown status of the preexisting knowledge base that legacy members worked so hard to compile. I can easily relate to the "force job" attitude that Atari has caused here and am not all that pleased about it myself. It's the influx of new players, albeit few, that gives this new locale some vitality.
Still, with all that admitted, I still miss many the old crew and their unique perspectives and personalties. As Genisys has pointed out, there has been a general tapering off of participation in NWN banter even within the old boards in the months before the termination took effect.
So my best advice is: Be patient. Don't sound the death knell just yet. You may yet be surprised!

Some just didn't make it. Don't remember exactly but it is not that they "got a life" or something...I think it is something else...because this is people that where active just to the change.
I dont think the main reason is that this forum isn't so good. Compared to the old one it is at least more modern and has some more advanced functions. Being logged out all the time is not so fun but that probably originates in that I am behind some crappy firewalls and my system at work is a centralized one which doesn't give the user any power at all.
About people from PW's not coming here it has always been like that so there is not much to do about that.
If you know someone missing from the old forum try to contact them and tell them that this new place is not so bad....

They lurk awaiting the last glorius pheonix that will arise from NWN ; be it NWNX, or CQ, or Q or CEP or whatever.
Some just post very infrequently as there is very little left to say - especially as there are very few newbies to help out and assist. Especially if you stink like old fish; or more likely real life curtails the love of your hobby. ; )

So many misconceptions here . . .
1. Underwear? What kinda dwarf wear's prissy panties? Dwarven has twenty-three different words for 'commando', ya know.
2. Water for DRINKING??!!!? By Clageddin's lousy beard! Don't you know what fish DO IN THAT STUFF??!!!
3. Dwarves cannot smell. It is a safety mechanism the race has evolved over the centuries in tunnels and caves, and the 'red meat off the bone' they're always gnawing. If a dwarf says, "I smell somethin' awful!", the reply is simply, "You certainly do!" and nothing more.
4. Water? For Drinking? Seriously?

Well, JFK, he is technically correct -- water brewed into coffee comes in handy when there's a last-minute switch that puts you on watch right after finishing your third ale keg.
Otherwise, I'd say you're right on target!
