It would be nice for everyone to post the specs of their PC and the settings they are using. These always help others figure out what their systems might be able to handle in comparison.

I could run everything at full blast, but I went for a balance of FPS and detail.

Dragon Age Settings:
All extra details maxed
Resolution: 1920x1200
AA: 2x
Textures: High
Detail: High
Vsync: Off (Why do all devs ignore Triple Buffering?)

PC:
Windows 7 64
4GB Ram
Radeon 4890
Phenom II x4 940

I'm not so sure. Most of the problems people are having are with scripting ingame, or DLC. The occasional out of date driver or faulty video card, I don't think spamming system specs are gonna resolve many problems.

Framerate very choppy, gets worse the longer I play. Load times measured in minutes, longest being 15 mins.

PC:

AMD Phenom 9600 quad core

win7 home premium 64 bit

6 gig ddr2 ram

geforce 8800GT 512mb video

soundblaster x-fi xtreme gamer sound

DAO Settings I've varied from the lowest to highest, no noticeable improvement in gameplay. Tried setting cpu affinity, beta video drivers, old video drivers, disabling background apps, increasing page file, decreasing page file, running from exe, running exe as an admin, running launcher as an admin.

None of the above helps, game is virtually unplayable after 15-20mins.

Drow, that sounds like a classic memory leak.  Check task manager when it starts ramping up to see how much memory daorigins is using and compare it to a fresh load of the game (make sure you're in the same area that you have high load times in) and if the memory used is significantly higher, you may have a leak.  also compare pagefile usage but this will be less evident.

have you run microsoft update lately Drow? you should definitely try that and get all the optional updates... also, CPU affinity... did you set it to 01? or more than one core? Try running it on 04 only

Is there a way to make the game display FPS? I never heard of the Affinity thing until now. Does it make a difference? I have 4 cores.

@ wallix you can get FRAPs to display the fps. The core affinity can sometimes fix issues with lagging and long load times caused by the CPU mishandling the threads. A variety of AMD dual and quad cores have that problem as well as some of the newer Core 2 Duo and Quad chips from Intel. There are reportedly some processor drivers out there that can fix the issue but as I've not got one of the problematic chips I can't attest to their workability

Graphics detail: Medium

Texture: Low

No AA

V-sync off

1920x1080

I gotta output at my Tv's resolution 'cause my laptops lcd screen broke yesterday.

Specs:

AMD Turion X2 Processor@ 2.0GHz

ATI Radeon HD 3200 w/256 VRAM

2 gigs of RAM

SoundMax HD Integrated audio.

And yes I know that it's in no way a gaming machine. I get 20-23 fps with those settings. But I also get 100% cpu usage.
