Let's admit it, we all have favorites. But do you play like me and have a character you keep at your side at all times?
For me I changed it up alot in ME1.
But then ME2 rolled around and I met this awesome looking Drell named Thane and kept him by my side till the bitter end.
Than Krios is my Wingman! Who's yours?
Who's Your Wingman/woman/creature?

Lawson gives you Weapon and Health bonus so she is always in my squad, even though I hate the character of Kasumi... her stealth attack owns so she is my other wingwoman

Grunt, because he is a powerhouse and an awesome character.
Same for Wrex in ME1.

I always switch it up, though some I use much more than others - Zaeed, Grunt, Mordin and Garrus because I love their characters, Miranda because I like her abilities.
Zaeed is probably #1. I love his commentary, plus he's just plain bad-ass.

Miranda i take with me always. I interchange Grunt and Garrus depending on the mission.

Garrus. To paraphrase Shepard: if I'm walking into Hell I want him with me.

Samara. She's always deadly serious. She can use assault rifles. Between Pull Field and Area Reave, there're many ways to set up and set off Warp explosions. She's a little squishy, but Reave can save her bacon. Reave is a swiss army knife of biotic abilities.

Pretty much Zaeed and Garrus. Grunt sees some action as well. I've been using Jacob a lot more ever since I modded him to carry a rifle instead of a shottie (I've got Zaeed modded to carry the M76 Revenant).
Zaeed's definitely the crew member I want by my side though I consider Garrus nothing less than my XO.

Garrus is my right-hand-man. As a Vanguard, I doubly appreciate his versatility on the battlefield. The only time he's ever off my team is during the SM when I place him as second squad leader.

ME1: Kaidan. *-*
ME2: Samara. I love her ^^ I kept her around because she's so serious, so focused, so loyal...well, she's amazing, that's why. (someday I'll cosplay her *-*)

For me, Samara is the confidante/friend of choice. I wouldn't call her my 'wingman', but she's my most trusted ally in the game. Of course, my more Renegade Shepards have a different view of Samara, one of them going so far as to [spoiler: Samara Loyalty Mission resolution]. But if *I* were Shepard, Samara would be by my side in every battle, on every mission. If Liara and Kaidan were on the Normandy SR2, they would also be with me. I don't trust Cerberus AT ALL, so Miranda and Jacob would be kept at arm's length. Jack is too unstable, Kasumi and Zaeed are too mercenary, Grunt is too untested, Legion is too alien, and Thane is an assassin-for-hire. Garrus and Tali's loyalty is unquestionable, but I wouldn't trust their judgement in most matters to the same extent that I would for Samara, Liara and Kaidan. Mordin is a special case, as his skill set is very valuable on the Normandy SR2, so I would rather he stay out of combat and stay in the lab.

I've gotta say, I was rather impressed with the characters all around in ME2. Still, Garrus and Tali had this history with Shep, so often as not they're the ones I tended to take with me everywhere important.
That being said, I'm surprised to see so little love for Mordin on the forums. He had interesting observations almost every time I took him out somewhere, and seemed to have more depth than most.

I adore Mordin, but he's like a crazy uncle more than a wingman, for my Shep.

Mordin is the guy you protect, the brilliant scientist with irreplaceable knowledge and skills, not the guy you bring with you to fight Eclipse mercs and LOKI mechs.
