I really like Garrus as a character, but I usually sideline him because he fills the same niche as my Shepard (Infiltrator). Once I get Tali in my group, I almost ALWAYS take her. In the first game, I usually went out with Tali and Liara; there was little that would stand in our way...for long. In the second game, I used Kasumi and Grunt a lot, at least until I got Tali. Once I picked her up and Samara, it was back to the alien chick support squad. I don't think I used Jacob at all until his loyalty mission, nor Miranda (unless I had to, like the first mission on Omega). I didn't use Thane at all, but then again, he was the second-to-last companion I picked up.

I'm looking forward to more DLCs, so I can use Legion and Tali a lot, especially against synthetics. AI Hacking + Combat Drones FTW!

Miranda
She's my favorite character, squadmate, and love interest. My Shepard never left the Normandy without her.

ME1: Liara was my favorite and I always used her, hence why she became my romantic interest.

ME2: I like Tali because I've known her from the original, but I only really liked her for AI Hacking. Other than that combat wise, I could care less about her. I used Jack alot on my first playthrough, and Samara on my second.

Garrus. To paraphrase Shepard: if I'm walking into Hell I want him with me.

QFT, although I try to use them all equally. Having him as the one I had to save and who saved me during suicide mission felt so right. He's the only one I couldn't stand losing

ME1, Liara, the Singularity was awesome

ME2, gotta be Ms Lawson, with her ability to wipe out shields/barriers/armor with overload/warp, and with the squad bonuses she is one hell of a swiss army knife

I take Miranda. Now she is by no means my fave character, but she seems to last the longest in a fight. Also her combination of overload and warp. Great mix. She looks very good (in the cinematics) but I find her looks absoloutly terrible in game. Then, when she states about her gen mods and looks in that 'im all that and some' tone on board the SR2 it makes me cringe. Fantastic backup though.

In ME it's Ashley. In ME2 it's Kasumi. I think her skill set works very well for a vanguard or adept.

I guess I just don't know how to use Kasumi, and thus don't see the attraction. She spent most of her time on the floor during my playthough of her loyalty mission, because it was more trouble keeping her upright than simply leaving her there and taking on everyone myself. I can't imagine her taking up one of my teammate slots on a mission with those big mechs or against Superbeetle and Mr Assuming Direct Control.

I usually took Ashley and Kaidan with me in ME1 trying to balance out fighting and biotics, but sometimes I'd bring Garrus instead of Kaidan. In ME2, I used to take Miranda all the time, but she runs out and gets shot too much, so now I mostly bring Mordin and Zaeed, because the Heavy Impact-Shot and Heavy Incinerate combo has never let me down.

Miranda, she's a keeper on most teams. Then Samara to balance out the team with her assault rifle and biotics.

I thought we were only allowed to discuss one person.  My team in ME consisted of Ashley and Tali (mostly).  Garrus would get some kind of rotation there with Wrex getting the least amount of time in.

In ME2, my squad used to be Miranda and whoever else I could pair with her.  It eventually became Zaeed and Kasumi.  Zaeed and Kasumi just work well together.  I don't know about the latest patch, but I leave Zaeed to do his own thing.  He tends to be better off than when I direct him.  Their extra abilities are probably one of the most symbiotic match ups I've witnessed.

Zaeed is a constant companion.

The second squadmate is usually Kasumi, Garrus, or Grunt. Zaeed & Grunt have some fun dialogue. Zaeed & Garrus can clear a room while Shepard calls the shots. Zaeed & Kasumi's grenade abilities complement each other. Occasionally I take Mordin as the second, just to hear his quips.

in ME1, Liara mostly all the time, with either garrus or Tali.

in ME2, Samara mostly too, with Garrus or Tali again, oh and sometimes Legion when u finally get him.. anoys me that we get Legion so damn late in the game + with that crew death timer.

but yea, the two Asari crew we get in ME1 and ME2 are very kool and the race in general is too!
in LOTSB, I had Samara and Liara, damn good team that was, Samra was the more offensive one with reave and The Mattock Rifle, Liara was the crowd control with Statsis and singulaty.
Here's hoping the Asari crewmate we get in ME3 is just as good.
