Dude, they're making DA2 from the ground up for the consoles this go around- consoles are likely getting the best version.
So, I played alpha demo.

We haven't even seen any gameplay video yet- any actual gameplay demo of the game, if its coming at all, likely wouldn't be for some time- probably after it launches like ME2 did...

There was gameplay of ME2 before launch. There will be for DA2 as well.

A demo would be good so the rest of us can see what it's like. I'm hoping they'll at least give us a character creator before the game release like they did with Origins.

Oh, no doubt there will be gameplay videos- the question was whether there will be a pre-release gameplay demo to download.
I don't know about that ME2 comparison though- sure they had plenty of gameplay video, but I distinctly remember they never released any footage of the PC version until about a week or 2 prior to release.

Well, for me it's not really about the acting, and the actors for DA:O were so uniformly excellent that I would expect the same to be true here. It's about wanting to pick the words I'm going to say, not the general tone/icon, and it's about being able to imagine the voice and delivery being anything I choose. I've never enjoyed a voiced PC as much as an unvoiced one. Maybe this will be different, and I won't find that it distances me from the character, but that would be a first of many. Best case scenario for me is that the actor is so good that I don't mind playing in the third person.

Even if it's well done, I don't see how any one voice could possible work for every possible character design. And that's really what it's being asked to do.RazorrX wrote...

Ehh, while I think it's hard to get away from in PS:T, that's fair enough
Worked well enough in Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Meer was terrible with Paragon lines, Hale was crappy with Renagade lines. Meer was sometimes monotone when he should not have been, sometimes Hale sounded forced. There is so many issues.

While there will always be some people who have issues with it, I'd say on the whole most people were satisfied with at least one of the two (male or female). I don't think it's a big deal. I don't like that they're going this route, but the damage has already been done; no changing it now. I don't think it's a bad way to design an RPG, just different from what I hoped for.

What do you mean by ME route exactly? If you mean having a 6-slot dialogue wheel with different tones and inflections with a voice acted main character, it's already been confirmed I'm afraid. If you mean voice actor-wise, I have no idea. I can't imagine it being much different from ME though. I admit, I wouldn't be disappointed if they kept it similar to ME's style. My problem was with the style, now that I know the style is confirmed, I don't really care one way or another because whatever they do will have inherent flaws.

Voice direction. Making Hawke sound monotone in certain places that should not happen, making Hawke sounded force ect.. Shepards voiced direction is out right terrible. I hope they do a better job with Hawke's voice direction.aaniadyen wrote...

Oh, well sure, I don't think anyone could argue with wanting better anything. All I'm saying is as long as they are going with a voiced PC (Which I don't like) they might as well go ME style. Also, while I don't always like VO'd PCs in games (I feel it works in some cases), I don't think it instantly condemns a game to sucking. If you really hate it that much you can always turn off the voice volume and turn on the subtitles; same thing.

More seriously, when people don't remember the voice, it usually means that, especially for a player character you hear a lot, it's pretty damn good. If it were at all annoying, it would have stuck in their minds.

I can neither confirm nor deny that rumor, but you, sir, are hardcore. Hardc0re 4 lyfe.
Considering I started and finished a completely new Origins campaign with a guy named Jayne simply so, when I did the Sacrifice, at the end, Leliana would sing The Song of Jayne... you are not alone.
Nerdiness is great and all, but I still crack up a bit after naming my PC River and doing the Ultimate Sacrifice.
The Song of River just sounds so weird and awkward that I just can't help but giggle at it. D:
