Remember this is an NG++ with a level 60 engineer, Colossus Armor and Specter X gear.

It means NOTHING.  If you can't own with a level 40+ char on ME1 Insanity, either your build is horrible or you are a horrible player.

ME1 Insanity gets EASIER as you level up, flesh out your character's / team's talents and get better equipment!
Anyone who used a level 1 char to play ME1 Insanity can tell you that it is the toughest at the start and early game.  Try fighting the Chlora's Den Assassins on Insanity at char level 5 ...

Completed a playthrough from scratch in Insanity with an medic engineer. Bonus talent is shotgun, but I didn't add any points into it. Went with a triple tech combo team with Tali and Garrus.

Pretty much smooth sailing after about level 20 onwards.

Now I see why I died that much when playing ME with a fresh start Engineer @ Insanity. =.="

At the final fight against Krogan when recruiting Liara, I was able to kill him with combination of biotic power from Kaiden. I was keep using Marksman skill on him whenever he got threw down, it took me like 4 times to finally finished him.

As other mention about group of husks, creepers, Engineer just do have the firepower to get the job done, I mostly use my teammates as a distraction (especially Wrex), to buy me some time to finish them off. If they were able to close to me, I have more than 40% chance of dying.

This situation have changed once I got my hand with a 3-slots pistol, no only its firepower but also I can finally keep shooting without getting overheated.

I started a new game insanity/engineer play through a couple of days ago and am now half way through the game. The beginning was pretty rough and I was tempted to change the setting to hardcore; particularly during the Majesty ship side quest. I actually left that quest early and plan to get back to it now that I'm at a healthy level 40. The most difficult part about playing as an engineer is that you're vulnerable in close quarters combat which is something that occurs frequently during side quests. I used throw as a special skill to help me out when enemies are getting too close and I depend on Wrex and Garrus to carry some of the load. If I was somehow able to handle the butt-load of creepers on Feros, then I'm sure I will eventually make it to the end of the game. I much prefer hardcore over insanity....
