So by mashing a button this subverts your boredom?

Yes? In Origins, I'm already button mashing but the only thing that's different is I have to sit there looking at the ceiling because I have no other buttons to press while they are on cooldown or I'm waiting on Stamina. The only difference this does is add something for me to do while I wait for those cooldowns instead of counting the ceiling tiles.

Well, that brings another 'want' of mine; Cool-down advancement. Speeding up cool-down times via a attribute would be best in my opinion, not choosing from one talent upgrade to another.

In the case of an archer, I usually auto-attack and try to visually watch if the buffs I have on are working, or strategize the rest of the battle.

In the case of an auto-attacking warrior, instead of counting tiles I type on this forum. Posted Image

..................however, I could still count tiles and mash A........................just saying

Here is my opinion. If you need auto-attack in game, there is something wrong in the game. Why?

Because it means game is playing behave of player as repeating same attack to same target. That's very booring way to play games.

If you bash same button over and over, it's no better than auto-attack.  How ever, if you bash different button based what you are attacking then it's way it should be. If game doesn't require player to think or be active, it's not really much of game.

Yes because simple auto attack makes us all stop thinking about are next move doesnt it

No because it means you are too lazy to do any attacks by you self or you can't do any attacks because you attacks are on cooldown or out of stamina or mana. How ever you look, if you need auto-attack, there is something wrong in situation. Player should never need it to anything.

I could train a nug to mash buttons all day, I can't get it to understand that mages are better suited casting spells from a far.

yes you could train a nug to mash buttons but doesnt mean its gonna be good at it tho, so you mite want to teach it how to reload from last save as well lol

But as it seems, Lumikki would have you click a mouse button every attack. Otherwise you're "not playing much of a game".

EDIT: Lumkki, I take it you aren't a RTS fan?

imo games need as much mental interaction as physical interaction, but "each to their own" as they say.

Good to know it still the same on PC. Thanks Mike.

It is not the same for PC, it has changed to autoattack.

This is how i like it and was asking for in DAO.

DA:O already had auto-attack ...you want button mash for PC too?

Well, I have one thing less to worry about on my list of "Things I don't like about DA2 (yet)".

It is not the same.

The pc will now follow the target until it is dead or you are dead or you change target.

That's how it was in Origins already, though.

It was not the same, if the target changed position the pc would stop fighting and do nothing, now the pc will follow until one is dead.
That is what Peter Thomas said and that is how the pc version worked in DAO.

I'd agree, having to open up the radial menu every time on the console just isn't viable. Can I at least assign auto-attack to a hotkey?

You won't have to. They changed their minds. There's a toggle for it.

The final implementation for auto-attack on console is actually a toggle in the options menu, if I recall correctly. You don't have to open the radial menu every time. This may not be present in the demo build, but don't worry, it's there in the final game.

That being said, this is a five-month-old thread that probably didn't need necro'ing.
