Since a lot of people have asked me about this, I've made a guide

THE COMPHRENSIVE “HOW TO BECOME THE QUEEN OF FERELDAN WITH ALISTAIR AS YOUR KING-HUSBAND” GUIDE

By Jakia

1.     Play as a Human Noble Female.
a.     Alistair does not do men, sadly.  We are still waiting for that mod.
b.     Human Nobles are the only way to become Queen.  You can still romance Alistair as an elf or a dwarf or a mage, but if you make Alistair King, he will break up with you unless you are a Noblewoman, because the council will not accept a peasant as their Queen.  At least in my experience.  If it is possible to become Queen and not be a noblewoman, please let me know/write your own guide

2.     Max out your Persuade/Coercian skill

a.     This is not the most important step in this process, but in my honest opinion it is a good option to take.  The future King has a bit of a thick head, sometimes, and a little persuasion is always a good thing to have.

3.     Get to 100% Approval with Alistair
a.     There are many steps you can take to get to this point.  In general, be a good person, spam him with gifts (he likes mystical runes and whatnot), do his sidequest, flirt with him, whatnot.

4.     Sleep with Him
a.     As much of a gentleman Alistair is, he is still A Man and Therefore Has Needs.  He will not sleep with you unless you have him at 100% approval.  Once you sleep with him, however, he basically considers you to be his soul mate.  Moral of the story?  If you want to be Queen, put out.

5.     Prior to Landsmeet, Talk to Anora

a.      Anora isyour lover-boy’s rival for the throne, and by the Maker does she want tocontinue to be Queen.  When you speak to her, she will ask for your support.  Tell her you want Alistair to be King instead.
When she asks why, tell her that Alistair is strong, brave, and a good man.  She will accuse you of just wanting
to get in his pants and become Queen yourself.  You can deny that if you want, but I didn’t.  She will then comment that Maric’s boys are quite a catch, and then you two will be done talking.

6.     Prior to Landsmeet, Talk to Alistair

a.     He will express…concern over the fact that someone *hinthint* told Anora they thought he would be a good King.  Tell him you think he would be great at being King, and throw encouragement after encouragement at him.  If you are max persuade, you may even be able to do some further convincing.  He should be by the end of the conversation where he still doesn’t want to be King…but he does want whatever is best for Fereldan, which is probably being king.

7.     At Landsmeet, Kill Loghain

a.     Alistair hates the man.  You should too!  Support killing Loghain for some quick bonus approval.  Getting Loghain to be a Grey Warden will end up with Alistair leaving your party, and no one wants that.

8.     At Landsmeet, Talk to Alistair
a.     After killing Loghain, the nobles at the meeting
will want your opinion on who should rule.
Tell them you need to speak with Alistair first.

b.     Alistair will still be reluctant to rule, but
having Anora betray you will definitely make him more willing to take the
throne.  Reassure him some more.

9.     Declare Alistair King, and You Will Rule Beside Him
a.     Here is where having max-persuade really comes into play.  When the council asks you who should rule, you will get the choice to say (persuade) “Alistair will be King, and I will rule beside him.”

b.     Alistair will freak out momentarily, but it turns out he really likes the idea.  After the Landsmeet, he will confirm your engagement and spout some loving lines your way.

10.  Create a Demon Baby
a.     At Redcliff, Morrigan approaches you with anoffer to save both you and Alistair.
Take it.  If you do not, either you or Alistair will die against the archdemon. Reassure Alistair that you are okay with him cheating on you to save both of your lives.

11.  Beat the Game and Become Queen
a.     If you follow all these steps and beat the game,  you become Queen.  You and Alistair get married six months after the final battle.  It’s as close to a happy ending as you get in this game.  Congratulations!

FAQ:
1.     I did this but I didn’t become Queen!
a.     I am so sorry. I don’t know what else to tell you? These are the steps I’ve taken and they’ve worked for me.

2.     Do I have to “harden” Alistair?
a.     I didn’t. It might not hurt, though.

3.     But I don’t want the demon-baby!
a.     Then you or Alistair dies.  The end!

4.     But I don’t want to be Queen!
a.     Then why did you read this guide on how to
become Queen?!

5.     Why can’t my elf/dwarf/mage be Queen?
a.     I haven’t tested it out myself, but I’ve been told it’s because you aren’t a noblewoman.  Hardening Alistair may change that, but I personally haven’t tested it out.

6.     Is there any other happy ending out there?
a.     Sure there is! You can encourage Alistair to not be King, and the two of you can let Morrigan have her demon-baby and then go frolic in the countryside!  It’s perfectly happy!  I just like being Queen.

Hope this helps some you out there,

jak

Thanks for this guide. : ) I can confirm, though, that Alistair will sleep with you even if he's not at 100%. I can't mouse over the bar to see a percentage being on XBox, but he was at about 80-85% when he accepted my offer to join me in my tent.

I'm considering this ending, or endorsing Anora and then running off with Alistair after letting Morrigan have her evil way with him (which seems to be another "happy" ending for human female nobles).

I did not "harden" Alistair during his side quest, and I was still able to become Queen.

He will accept your offer to sleep with him when he is at "Adore", but when he loves your character he will proposition her instead. I like that better myself. :D

I got Princess, consort-of-the-king.

Because Anora is still alive and holds the title of queen.

Pff, I'm a woman with needs with places to go and things to do!  I figured my human noble (who came from a strong, opinionated mother) wasn't the type to wait around on the virgin to initiate anything. Posted Image

Is it wrong that I laughed when I read "If you want to be Queen, put out" ?

Do a Google search. I don't want to elaborate on it in this post as it's off-topic.

And seeing how Alistair is a joke, then you as a Queen will have real power.

A male will have to contend with Anora's ****** attitude. But, she told me that I am intimidating, which would have made me smile if I wasn't sad about Morrigan. But yea, now I know I will put her in her place, aka the kitchen :P

Interesting guide. Sounds incredibly interesting. Not that I would reach that, I don't swing that way. And last I checked Alistair doesn't either. Demon baby sounds quite... interesting. Can't wait to get to that part.

I think if you're not a human noble, the only way to have Alistair become king and still hold onto him is to kick some sense into him during his personal quest, and let him take you on as a consort at the Landsmeet. I kinda like that idea, actually...very Madame Pompadour-esque.

While we're on the subject. Can Human Male Noble become king?

I've heard also that if you knocked some sense into him during his personal quest that you have the option of still being his lover (if not queen) if you choose to make him king and are not nobility yourself. Maybe you have to have high persuade too. I'm not sure though, since I didn't know that at the time I did that quest and I'm a softy.

Softy? His sister is a ****. :P

Anyway, high persuade is always, always and forever a good idea, no matter what ending you're going for. ;)

Meh. I've decided that my mage is going to become First Enchanter of the Circle, dangnabbit, so all I have to do is find an ending where she gets to keep Alistair and everyone doesn't die so I can fanfiction it in.

Easier said than done, given how badly the endings can go.

To my knowledge, "hardening" Alistair will allow him to carry on an affair with you after he becomes King if you're not a noblewoman. It's the only way to make Alistair King and continue a relationship with him as anything but a human female noble.
