I don't much like the idea of "hardening" your companions since I'm currently playing with a mostly good PC, but Alistair is such an adorably sweet dope that I think he could probably use a good swift kick in the rear just so his head doesn't float off into the clouds.

Thanks for this guide.

I had a pretty close idea that this was it, and interested to see that you didn't go the hardening route (that just makes it easier and not have to use so much persuasion for him to take the throne)

I'm shooting for the non-King route this time around .. maybe will try it second time.

While we're on the subject. Can Human Male Noble become king?

Yes. At first, Queen Anora only names you as Prince Consort and supreme commander of the coalition. But at the end, she makes you King.

I played as good but I felt like it was a lesson he seriously needed to learn so he could grow up. He doesn't change really. He's actually less whiny but he's still goofy and sweet, so long as you're a female noble. lol. My human noble had designs on the throne but she did not want to be the one to actually rule. She's practical. She wanted to be the Loghain to his Maric and I think really thats how it all turned out. She's pleased.

It's after you do his personal quest. Talk to him about Goldanna and say "everyone is out for themselves" and that will convince him to stand up for himself more.

And we have to watch! I was mad that he had a smile on his face in that scene. <_<

He was just relieved he wasn't getting it on with a spider or a bear after all.

Ah. Great. Got to try that at some point. I take it you do not need to follow a specific romance option for that? :P

They said I was going to be Queen during all the dialogue and cut scenes but then in the slide show at the end they called me Princess Consort, and that Queen Anora was still floating about somewhere! What gives?! :( Hahaha.

I'm actually wondering if the epilogue ever names you "Queen" or if "Princess-Consort" is all we get. Amusingly enough I got this ending without noticing this guide. I wanted a happy ending with Alistair so I did whatever I had to in order to get it.

But let me tell you, I felt sick to my stomech asking Alistair to sleep with Morrigan, then having to watch. Really, really sick.

I agree, it is so wrong on so many levels, because its obvious he doesn't want to do it, and I can't say I'd be able to ask my fiance to do that in real life, it's a very touchy subject (cheating), and sensitive situation to put a person in for the sake of a game. You work to build up a relationship and keep him happy and make him happy and in the end you have to face the ultimate betrayal after everything that has happend to you already is really unfair, I hope they release a DLC that adds additional, happier endings one day. And considering there are over 200 wardens (apparently as you find out at the end)  both new and old obviously, it sucks that there is no way around it, even if it required that you go on another quest to find Morrigan her damn babydaddy. Because sure, you can end with that you and Alistair say good riddance and not care what happens with Morrigan and the baby, I even kept him sweet, and he was like good riddance lets just forget about it and move on. But it leaves you with that voidish feeling of a bad ending as the player. And the option for one of you to die isn't any better.

Male PC's get to have a bastard baby, and marry who they want in the end. Much more "complete" and "satisfied" feeling for them. As a female you sacrifice or put a huge dent in the one happy thing in the game as far as your character goes.

The whole thing puts a damper on the chance  that I play through it again, and even keep my save for the inevidable sequel, and buying that because it could just potentially rub that in your face more. I may be a care bare, whatever, but I like happy endings especially when these characters  go through such hell the whole time.

I was surprised Alistair knew anything about the baby at the end as my PC hadn't mentioned a child at all. Just a ritual with Morrigan. Unless she told him about it just to twist the knife, but I doubt it because she doesn't want him to have anything to do with the child.

No Morrigan didn't tell him, he just assumes that's the case, his dialogue says "I'm not THAT stupid, I know what happend." And then you can just choose to not care at all and move on, which seems to be what he responded  happiest to do, awfully cheery might I add...  He hates Morrigan, and the baby is a demon and not yours, and was only created so you could live and be with him. So I suppose he wants to forget about it, so I guess that's their way of making you feel a little better about it. :crying:

Morrigan is basically Flemeth 2.0, I won't be surprised if she has a babies with many people if we ever hear about her again in a sequel. Even her romance arc is that she only likes flings, and disregards them after, much like her mother. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't really Morrigan at that point, if you did Morrigan's plot quest, Flemeth doesn't die, and planned on basically killing and using Morrigan as a host, and even if you kill Flemeth I think Morrigan says that it won't kill her eternally, it'll just delay the inevidible, but that's open for speculation as much of this game is, in the end.

Now we need a guide for how NOT to be queen, and for how Alistair gets to do other things. What are those possibilities?

I feel so pissed now!
1) I made a female mage = wrong, i am not noble (I still hope though)
2) I didn't "harden" Alistair = wrong (I am not the type who will say to friend "your relative have to go to hell!)
3) I had all the cute cu-scene till Alistair asked himself to sleep with my mage = good (I was happy the way things were written)
4) I F!CKING DON'T WANT ALISTAIR TO SLEEP WITH MORRIGAN = IT'S SOUND SO WRONG!

Conclunion n°1 : I will not let Alistair become king, I will rather like my mage and Alistair live a happy and simple life than being separate because of blood lineage.

Concusion n°2 : I am begining to wonder if my mage will break up or not with Alistair and hope a better life with Zevran. Since I read this guide, I really start to consider that...

Note : my mage did not go out with Zevran because he creeps me out by liking being an assassin >.>

Heh, I feel the same way, good ol' Al does seem to be popular either as a romance for the girls or best bud for the guys. :D

Yeah, but the ladies get to marry something they like, and possibly keep Zevran on the side, male PCs just get Anora. :(

Just a small correction, if you're a gay male pc there is no marriage, no royalty and the PC and Zevran are little more than glorified friends with benefits. That plus you're forced to sleep with a woman to save your own life or sacrifice Alistairs, so I feel your pain. Not very complete or satisfying, especially when delicious Alistair is so close, yet so far.

Sounds to me that women are the ones who get the best options. ;)

I don't suppose there's a way to get Loghain over Alistair and still be ruler for a female?

I'll be sad if that utter jerkwit option is not available for girls.
