Maybe I could offer some perspective.
The writer of that article saw pretty much the same content that other people have seen. If you do a fact-by-fact check versus the known facts, you'll see that he's saying nothing particularly new. However, he is offering a new opinion. The opinion seems to be: "Hot damn, I was surprised and impressed by what I saw."
So, then, are you reacting to what the article said, or are you reacting to the way it was said? I'm guessing the latter. And I can see why, his language choice seems to hit the same chords that have made some people determine that DA2 is [insert prognostication here].
But here's the thing: you just saw someone write a very enthusiastic preview about the PC version. Not the console. The PC.
Some solace there, I would hope?

All of the fears may prove to be right.
You mean that people who want to see bad thing will see bad things? Shocker.
Expect this right up until release. As every preview comes out, people will either be ecstatic or dismayed based on whether what it says matches up with their personal hopes. It's a bit of a roller coaster, like living with a schizophrenic.

By now, I've said this enough times that I imagine most of you are aware that discussion should be about the points people are bringing up, rather than the person. Insults, ad hominem attacks, or accusing each other of being fanboys or trolls - none of these are acceptable.
Let's try and keep that in mind as we continue forward in this thread.

Ahh, the 'what is an RPG' discussion. Let me predict how this will go in a one-act play I call 'What be'eth a Game of RP?'
PERSON ONE: 'An RPG has to encompass these things here!'
PERSON TWO: 'No, I feel an RPG encompasses these things instead!'
PERSON ONE: 'You're wrong, and this is why I think that!'
PERSON TWO: 'No, YOU'RE wrong, and here are my reasons!'
PERSON ONE: 'Nuh uh!'
PERSON THREE: 'If I might interject...'
PERSONS ONE AND TWO: 'Shut up!'
FIN
So instead of going down this well-trodden road that never leads to any consensus, I'm going to call the discussion off-topic and suggest that you guys return to discussing the topic at hand - the pcgamer preview and how it relates to DA2.

Let's get it back on topic and cut it out with the sniping and bickering, please. if this becomes yet another "what is an RPG?" thread, i will shut it down.

We have left the beaten path of DA2 discussion and wandered off into the wilds of 'things related to RPGs in a general way'. While I always support reasonable and intelligent debate, we do need to keep things related to DA2 in a slightly more substantial way than this thread currently is.

Okay. This discussion has obviously become lost in the 'define an RPG' wilds. Locking it - please feel free to start a new thread discussing the PC Gamer preview, sans all the off-topic discussion about the nature of RPGs and such.
