*Okay mild spoilers for Origins I guess*

Now I'm doing the obvious mission.
I have completed Lothering>Redcliffe>Circle of Magi>Orzammar.

Admittedly I had to switch to Casual on Branka. Posted Image
I'd rather not do that on this one (as this time I'm not being mauled by hordes of stone-peoplePosted Image) but I can't even hurt Flemeth a little.

I'm trying to play a "canon" playthrough, I can't bring Morrigan so all I have left is Me, Alistair, Dog and Oghren.
I tried changing me and Alistair to bow-and-arrow (I have plenty of Archery Skill but Alistair has no) and Oghren and Doggy rush forward.

Half a minute later...

Oghren-Dead
Dog-Dead
Alistair gets burned & sucked forward while I run to avoid the Splash Damage.

Then Flemeth just fireballs me till I'm dead while I fire ice arrows to no effect.

I am level 12, Oghren is level 13, Alistair is level 11 and I think Dog is too.

I have Yusaris (+damage to dragons) but it doesn't help.

I can't really find any Health Pots and Morrigan can only make Lessers (and I've ran out of Elfroot anyway) I have 1 Greater, 1 Potent and 1 Lesser HP.

What do I do? Posted Image
At the end of each battle (all out) Flemeth has a totally insignificant, barely noticable amount of Health loss. Posted Image

*no spoilers past where I've mentioned I've been please*

You don't say what class you are, but since you have bow skills, I'm guessing rogue - could be warrior, I guess.

Flemeth stays still, so while you can just stand back and pepper her with arrows, they don't do that much damage, unfortunately. And there's those pesky fireballs you mention.

Dog can't do anything except melee attack anyway, so by himself, yea, he's dying pretty fast.

What you're doing is dividing your party, and the 2 you're holding back just aren't doing enough damage, so, as you posted, Dog and Oghren die fast, then you and Ali are dragon food.

If you're a rogue, try bombs - freeze bomb, acid bomb, etc - they will do collateral damage to your party, too, but may be worth it, Also, get behind her. You avoid her major attacks that way - just get kicked now and again. But you get backstab. Alistair's templar spell - holy smite - will also do some damage to her.

And hey, lesser health pots are better than nothing, no?

Oh sorry man I'm a 2-Hand Warrior Posted Image

And a terrible one it seems! Posted Image

There were a few other things I wanted to add but I thought the post was already abit long.

I tried first time (before finishing Orzammar) with the 4-warrior-rush but got smited. EDIT: (I was lower-level then so I'll probably give it a try)

Most of my skills are in 2H and some just generic "warrior", as well as Shattering Shot, Pinning Shot and Crippling Shot in Archery.

EDIT: Alistair also has some (level-1 or level-2) poison making, if that helps.

this fight is actually easier than your making it, the best way i found of doing it is this...

party i would recommend

2 handed heavy hitter

spirit healer mage with force field

sword and sheild warrior tank

what ever u wanna use just not dog

ok so first make sure your mage (wynne) has force field and PLENTY of lyrium potions. make sure your tank has plenty of health poltices and has threaten and sheild defence activated (precise striking is a bonus if you have haste active as well) have your two handed warrior use disengage as much as possible and your tank use intimidate as much as possible, your last party member i would suggest be a fairly advanced archer (leilana for me) and have rapid fire active all the time as well as using critical shot and any armor peircing weaponry. ok that your basic party layout for ya.

now onto the strategy.

have wynne constantly healing and make sure you use force field if your active tank is picked up and shaken by flemeth, have the 2 handed warrior use disengage as mucgh as possible while your tank uses intimidate as much as possible to keep the aggro, use health poltices once your health gets below 50% otherwise flemeth will ensure your going to be mince meat. same applie with lyrium potions. now make sure wynne revives your tank if they fall otherwise you may as well set this fight to easy becuase you will get owned in no time at all. another thing to consider as well is paralysis runes on your weapons this may buy you some crucial time you need to heal, make sure your warriors wear massive armour as well and your archer wears leathers to attract less aggro and have less fatigue.

i hope that helps... but one more thing, make sure you pause play ebcuase otherwise that would be a realli hard challenge... also having wynne use blizzard on the back half of the dragon is helpful.

Wynne is dead.

I was hoping to do this boss before I move on so Oghren, Dog and Alistair are my only options (assuming I don't just leave an empty spot for no reason).

Ahhh, okay, so 2h warrior . . . disregard what I said about being a rogue.

That's a tough party you have to take on Flemeth . . . . Dog particularly is full frontal assault, not recommended here.

You can try what yullyuk suggested, I suppose - I don't go in for tanking and all on this game, so it may work.

What I would do first is swap out dog for either Leli or Wynne. An advanced archer on rapid aim can do more damage, and be kept out of the way. The arrow hits will also serve to attract some attention from Flemeth - I've noticed the AI does often react to damage, not necessarily who is closest - so Leli may attract some fireballs, which won't affect your melee party. Wynne, although primarily a healer, can also do distance damage with her staff - lightning, arcane bolt, stone first, etc - all will do damage, though granted, not a lot.

If you want to keep Ali and Oghren, I'd have Ali use the bombs as you close, then have you, Ohgren and Ali melee attack . . again, Ali's holy smite will do damage. I'd still move around behind her - you stay out of primary attack range that way, and with Yusaris, you're doing major damage. Use a swift salve if you have them on your PC to speed him up, and again, even lesser health pots are better than nothing.

3 warriors banging away, with an archer or mage doing damage from a distance, can take her down faster than you think, so long as you stay alive - so health pots are your friend.

Note - even WITH Wynne as ms. spirit healer, I still think you need health pots. And if you're using lesser pots, set your party to heal at health<75%, because lesser health pots don't heal as much (obviously) and won't save you if you're at, say, 40% health and get mouth-grabbed.

Is Leli also dead?  Zev?

That party, with Dog, is really not the best.

Potion up, and forget what I said about ranged attacks if that party really is your only option.  Have Ali use the bombs, get your PC behind her, and bash away, keeping in mind what I said about healing level.

Zevran is dead, not ran into Leliana yet.

I managed to get her to half health but realised I was on Casual! Posted Image

On Normal I managed to get her about a third down (maybe less) with a phsical resistance rune on me and some poison on Alistair.

Both times Oghren and Dog were the last-men-standing, those damn power-bite attacks where she picks you up are just battle-breaking! Posted Image
I got it for awhile where she was flipping back and forth trying to face either Dog or Oghren while the other sliced her back while taking only moderate damage. (unfortunately Flemeth was taking less damage so I still lost).

I guess I could fill the Leliana place but it would mute my Yusaris.

If only Alistairs cleasing affected Flemeth like it affects Morrigan this battle would be much easier. Posted Image

It's not an easy fight, I'll give you that. But with that party, you're kind of limited.

Keep at it, and remember to try to stay behind her - poisons on swords is also a good idea, as you found out. You can also use bombs without hitting your party, if you place them right - keep that in mind.

Yeah it'll be easier since Shapeshifter-Flemeth takes up the space of a thousand men.

I will keep at it, maybe find somewhere where I can invest in some health packs (or even the fabled health pack recipe I've been looking for) and maybe better armour or something for brittle-bone Alistair.

Turns out Dog is L12 not L11 btw.

EDIT: How effective is Final Blow? Is blowing all Oghrens stamina (bar the amount it takes for Mighty Blow) on it a worthy move?

why is wynne dead? you betrayed at circle tower? and u havnt met leilana? well im afraid to say if you dont get her in lothering you dont get another chance, if i was you i would go back to your saves at lothering and recruit as many party members as you can... except zevran... hes a pretty useless rogue i.e. no lockpicking skills

WHAT!? YOU MEET HER AT LOTHERING!?

I thought I'd meet her at the Forests. Posted Image

Yes I wasn't going to kill Wynne she seemed quite nice at Ostagar but Morrigan made such a good case.

I thought I saw a quest in Lothering near some elves but I was tired and when I went on next day it wasn't there.

shes actually in the inn in lothering, and stens in a cage, if i was you i would go bakc and recruit them all because otherwise you will have alot of trouble beating flemeth, you need at least 1 mage in your party at all times

Yea, I didn't want to break that bad news to you.  Sorry.

And, umm . . . .at the point in the game you're at, Lothering has been destroyed . . . so, no more Leli . . . or Sten, if you missed him.

Yeah I know.

I saw Sten but wasn't too fond of having a phscopath murderer in my party, plus the Vicar woman was quite hardline about it.

I didn't even find any Inn. Posted Image Guess I'm just stuck with the characters I've got now then.

Wow...

I just fought Flemeth hard as I could, before my last guy dies I hold LT and check her health.

If this was her health:
[IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII]
She was about here end-battle:
[IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII    ]

Posted Image
Give or take 1 or two I's. Posted Image

Is the only way I'm gonna beat her like this on Casual?
I didn't even beat her when I was accidently on that the one time.

as i said, go back to an ealirer save in lothering, the inn is in lothering itself, across that bridge and to the right, once you enter a cutscene plays and leilana then offers to join you after a battle, i would also STRONGLY recommend you get wynne, shes a fantastic spirit healer and as i said mages with the force field spell are pretty much necessary when fighting a high dragon to not have one would be making it overly hard for yuorself even on easy

I don't have a Lothering save. Posted Image

I've been through all Orzammar (& the Deep Roads), Redcliffe & Magi.

It'd be abit much to restart now wouldn't it? Posted Image

it would be worht it, by the looks of things youve missed some great oppurtunitys here and with leilana you also get her personal quest, same thing with wynne, the only think i direly suggest is going to an earlier save and picking up wynne, otherwise you can kiss any chance of making flemeth easier goodbye without a mage

To restart now?  Yes, I'd think so.  You're closer to the end than the start, and finishing is rewarding.

But, Origins has nice replayability, for reasons like this - you can find things - or people - you didn't before, and try different options.

I'd say muddle through where you are (Flemeth is a side quest, remember - and you don't HAVE to kill her) then try again, knowing what you know now.

Cool well thanks guys.

Yeah I figured since it was my main save I'd want to kill Flemeth like I wanted but since like you say it'll be very hard without mage I just did it on Casual. Posted Image (It was still quite bloody hard!)

Thanks for help both of you next playthrough when I know where the characters are hopefully I can defeat Flemeth properly.

Alrighty, I think you have gotten some sound advice, but my first fight with Flemeth took me two tries. When I lost the first round, I re-evaluated the fight, positioning, and party members. What I ended up doing was making a ton of traps (I think between 60-70, combo of damage based traps), and knowing where Flemeth would end up, I sent Leliana up to that spot, laid out every trap where Flemeth would appear as a dragon before initiating any conversation with her.

Once she appeared in that spot, setting off the traps, it took a good chunk of her health, making the fight, much, much, much easier. Traps are your friend, especially if you can get them preset before the big battles.

If you have Shale, the fight is much easier - she can't be grabbed.

with wynn, i had to play her character most of the time cuz her healing suks.

also, i could not figure out why we should kill her.
morrigan seems paranoid when asking us to.
plus, we can get the book and lie to morrigan and
tell her that we killed flemeth.
