I've noticed some erratic behavior on several of our PW shops that stock a… LOT of items for sale. Every now and then, a handful of items in the shop, like 5, will get corrupted. Sometimes the item properties (like an AC bonus) change into something totally different, usually a badstrref. Sometimes an item in the shop, when looked at in the toolset, is blank.
Given this range of erratic behavior, I’m wondering if there is a limit on how many items a shop object can hold? Does anyone know?

If there is a limit it is very big. Im using stores for my general loot "table". I have there more than 500 items per store.
Also I never saw the behaviour you are talking about, can't this be some issue in OnStoreOpen script?

I'm big time guessing here... but I don't think it is an issue with the scripts. Since the items are corrupted in the toolset?
BTW, why the avatar picture change? You feeling grumpy? *playful grin*

Interesting, I also have never seen this happen with the stores.
Here is what ran through my mind thinking about it. It could be that your store is getting written to a bad sector on the hard drive. If I where you I would defrag the HD then run an error checking on the drive. While you are at it, It would not hurt to check the memory and L1/L2 cache.

The more items in a shop the longer it takes to load and if i understand correctly it can cause lag.On store close i have a script that cleans the shop after a time limit.

Heya Anthony,
I do not think it is an issue of lag in this case. Since items get corrupted. Again, that is just a guess. You are correct that large shops can cause local lag.
*chuckles at ShaDoOoW* I can guess exactly who that was.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'll take one of the shops that has had problems in the past and cut down on how many items are in it and see if that makes a difference. Yup... I'm grasping at straws here.

I had something similar happen years ago, an item somehow got corrupted in the store only, as soon as it was removed from the store everything else went back to normal. Caused a fair few problems until I got it sorted out, other items would be the wrong size, all kind of strange stuff. It was one of the green throw-able (acid flask?) items.
I don't know what caused it to become corrupted, as it was the default Bioware palette item. After re-building the store with the same items, things worked fine. Must be that stray cosmic radiation causing memory errors again.
That's all I know, good luck with your stores.

Yes, Unless they have their server in a cave, it is a good possibility.

Interesting tmanfoo. I'm fairly sure the shops do sell that type of grenade. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try!
