How did you respond to Liara on how you feel about everything (worried, hopeful or frustated)?

"Worried." It seemed to fit better for some reason.

I did pick the frustrated option once I believe.

"Worried" here too. I like how the conversation goes then: they are obviously getting things done, but Shepard has no idea where he/she is actually going with all this. It reflects my own feelings on the matter pretty well.

I chose "frustrated" because my Shepard hasn't gotten laid in 2 years.

I don't want to imply anything, but Shepard was out for two years, so how do you know?

I pick 'frustrated'. I enjoy complaining about Cerberus and the Council. This is really the only time you can do this.

I chose "SUPER! Thanks for asking!" lol.

I don't remember what I chose, it was either worried or frustrated.

I choose frustrated. Every time. It gives Shepard the most amount of character depth possible. Worried implies his feelings for the future threat. Hopeful is for bricks. Frustrated shows true insight to Shepard's character.

Plus, I feel like Shepard WOULD be frustrated. Being used as a pawn by Cerberus, the Council being dicks, his friends not listening to him......

Hopeful. Shepard's overcome too many supposedly insurmountable obstacles to be emo.

So having some depth and being human rather being some boring invincible hero is emo?

So having some confidence in yourself and belief in your own ability to complete the mission is somehow boring?  Shepard is the pinnacle of humanity, saving it almost single-handedly not once, but twice!  Shepard is far from a boring character, but also far from a "normal" human.  For some, part of what makes a character heroic is his/her ability to be more than "human".

What I really wanted was a 'none of your business' answer. Short of that, I lied and said confident.

My Shepard won't say he's worried. But he won't necessarily claim he's estatic about it either. Given that he can't say nothing, he lied.

I think the reason people dislike the "i'm hopeful" option is because you're finaly given the chance to have Shepard express emotions, so why would you instead choose the "meh i'm fine" option?

But to the original question. I always pick the "i'm worried" dialog if i got people killed on the collector base, and if everyone survived I pick the "i'm frustated". Mostly because the conversation doesn't flow as well or make as much sense if you do it the other way.

Maybe. Subjectively speaking, Shepard saying he/she feels hopeful makes him/her feel like some knight in shining armor and I hate knights in shining armor. It just feels like a kid's mary sue fantasy.

Subjectively speaking, I'd like a hero that isn't as emotionally unstable as the rest of us. To each, their own.

Shepard shows next to no emotions throughout the game, so I fail to see that having him letting his guard down for one moment makes him "emotionally unstable".

A bit of hyperbole on my part. Personally, I think it is the angle of doubt that rubs me the wrong way with both "worried" and "frustrated" responses. If a man/woman in Shepard's position, with his/her experience, is still plagued by doubt about what's to come, then my first response is that we're all screwed.  This is obviously not the case with everyone, nor do I begrudge anyone else that sentiment.  I would not consider any of the responses emo, but nor would I consider any of them boring or even out-of-character for someone who has succeeded to the extent Shepard has.

Good to know that you will follow someone with blind optimism.

Shepard doesn't seem to have much doubt about the sitation in the "frustated" dialog, more like being pissed off about people not believing or having faith in him. Which is why it makes sense to pick that option if you got everyone through alive on the suicide mission.

The "worried" feels alot better and makes alot of sense if you lost somebody on the mission. But I agree that if everyone got through alive it just make Shepard seem unconfident in himself.

I selected "worried". I like the fact that my Shepard is unsure of herself, and apprehensive with regards to the impending Reaper war.

Also this. All heroes should have a moment of weakness, or else they become boring.
