But back to Parlthalan. If he helped King Calenhad unite the Free Marches, why did we never heard of him?

Because the setting is fairly new, and we've really only scratched the surface with regards to setting lore?

PS:  It's Ferelden, not the Free Marches.

Yes Ferelden, my mind was somewhere else.

And I can understand that DA:O only scratched the surface, but my theory about the Chantry removing Parthalan from history would be a decent explanation for why we haven't heard of him before no?

This is what it said in the Staff of Parthalan email:

"Magic has always run strongly within the Hawke bloodline. The tales passed
down from one generation to the next tell of an ancestor named
Parthalan, a mage who long ago helped to unite Ferelden under the rule
of King Calenhad. Parthalan eventually vanished into legend, fleeing
the persecution of the Chantry, but his legacy remains in the hands of
his family - along with his hope that one day, mages would achieve the
freedom that King Calenhad intended to bring to all men."

I don't think your theory that the Chantry removing his name from history is that far off, probably spot on actually given what's said here. Also it looks like he's from Hawke's father's side from the whole "Hawke bloodline" bit.

I want that staff!!!Posted Image

And the history of the Hawke's sound interesting.
And Pathalan eventually vanished? By the Maker, I really hope he went to the Free Marches at some point in time.
Finding out more about your ancestor would be an interesting quest.

Though my guess is that he went to the Tevinter Imperium. And I know how mages can have it just as bad there as in any other country, but a mage that helped unite Ferelden? He has a big friggin chance to be come an important Magister in the Tevinter Imperium, just a guess though.

All this talk about PapaHawk being an apostate mage made me think what if Wynne is Hawke's paternal grandmother. She is a mage, had a son who has been shipped somewhere by templars and she is a right age for granny (I put her aroun 60+).

Well... We never heard her last name...
This could be a possibility but I doubt  it.
I mean, the Chantry took him away. I don't know what they do with the children of mages but I doubt that they let them go.

So if your human mage warden and Hawke's mother are relative, does that not mean that the human mage warden comes from a wealthy family?

So is Hawke the oldest child or is it his sister Bethany?

Hawke is the oldest. I believe Carver is the youngest, but I'm less sure about that.

Any idea how old Carter is?
I keep thinking he's like 15-16 seeing as you where already considerd an adult by then in the Middle ages.
But it would be more logical if he just turned 18, otherwise BioWare has to deal with the complaints of a minor getting slaughterd or something like that.

Hawke is the oldest, yes. Carver and Bethany are twins.

Oh good, didn't want to be the younger sibling.

It could be an interesting dynamic. The bond between twins is usually quite strong.

Whatever happens to Carver, at least it can´t end worse than that.

Well, it's a known quantity at this point that two of the party members are going to die, whether those party members are Bethany, Carver, Wesley, or Aveline. If one of the twins die = ow.

Y'know, I bet Hawke feels like the third wheel a lot and if one of the twins dies.. it might give him/her a chance to get closer to the surviving twin. Devestating for the surivor (who may suffer survivor's guilt) but it could add some interesting interactions for Hawke.

David Gaider popped up on two of my threads? That's new. Not that I'm complaining...

So Carver and Bethany are twins? So...how old are the Hawke kids?
Beth looks in her early twenties, so I guess Carver is too. And how old his Hawke?
He doesn't look THAT much older then Bethany. And his mother must be in her what, 50's-60's?
Then I guess she met Father Hawke when she was arround 30 or 40 years old.

I bet Hawke is about 23 - 25 years old and Bethany and Carver are about 19 - 20 years old. This means mama Hawke could be between 40 - 50 years old. This is just speculation on my part as I have no evidence either real or implied to back up my assumptions.

That's likely! :o Wow, twins... it's really going to be sad for the surviving twin I supose.

Well, Carver and Wesly only died in the demo a reviewer was playing right?
Maybe there is a chance they both survive.

Not that it wouldn't be sad if they weren't twins.
