Dialogue Sound Clipping in Steam version

When in conversations, often the audio at the beginning or end of a conversation line will be clipped off.  This is getting rather annoying, and I'd like to know if there is any way to work around it, either by tinkering with Mass Effect's settings, updating the sound drivers, or any other way.  My sound device as reported by DirectX Diagnostic Tool is:

i am hearing clipping too, but a have the regular retail version. And it clips in me2 as well as me1.
